Job Overview We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Groundsman to join our outdoor maintenance team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for supporting landscape, tree care, tree removals, and landscape management activities to ensure the health, safety, and aesthetic appeal of our customers' properties. Responsibilities Assist with planting, pruning, trimming, removing, and maintaining trees, shrubs, and other vegetation using proper arboriculture techniques. Operate tools such as ropes, rigging gear, chainsaws, and other landscaping and arboriculture tools safely and efficiently. Operate equipment such as wood chippers, stump grinders, and mini articulating wheel loaders. And the loading and unloading of equipment. Operate commercial vehicles with a GVWR at or in excess of 26,000 lb. Including vehicles towing trailers Support tree climbers and bucket truck operators with rigging techniques and tools for tree removal, tree trimming, or pruning projects while adhering to safety protocols. Conduct tree removal tasks with precision, ensuring safety for team members and the surrounding environment. Use GIS (Geographic Information Systems) tools to assist in mapping and planning landscape or tree care projects. Perform landscape maintenance duties including lawn care, planting, mulching, and general site cleanup. Follow all safety procedures diligently during outdoor work activities and equipment operation to prevent accidents or injuries. Skills Experience operating commercial vehicles, wood chippers, chainsaws, and other landscaping or tree care equipment safely. Knowledge of arborist rigging techniques, tree removal procedures, and plant pruning care. Familiarity with GIS technology for mapping or project planning purposes. Strong understanding of tree care practices, including trimming, pruning, and disease management. Ability to perform outdoor work in various weather conditions with physical stamina and attention to detail. Basic horticulture knowledge along with growing experience in landscape maintenance or gardening. Commitment to safety protocol adherence and a proactive approach to hazard prevention. Good communicator, able to understand and follow instructions, speak and understand English clearly, and capable of learning all hand signs utilized by our company, needed for safe and efficient operations, especially in noisy environments. CDL holder preferred; however, all groundsmen must be able to pass a drug test and procure a DOT medical card. Groundsmen must be physically fit, lifting and carrying loads weighing up to 65 pounds regularly. Push or pull heavy items at times more than 65 pounds, such as dragging heavy brush and logs. Be able to stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, and climb on uneven terrain for prolonged periods throughout the day; maintain high physical stamina during long shifts involving heavy physical exertion.
