Garden Maintenance Technician (Experienced): Part-Time, Flexible Schedule Northern Perspectives Landscape is a boutique landscape design and garden maintenance company serving high-end residential clients throughout the western and northern Twin Cities metro. We specialize in detailed perennial gardens, ornamental shrubs, and beautiful outdoor spaces—not lawn mowing or landscape construction. We're looking for an experienced Garden Maintenance Technician who can confidently care for established gardens with minimal supervision. This position is ideal for someone who genuinely enjoys horticulture and takes pride in doing meticulous work. Current Schedule Approximately 8-10 hours per week to start (generally 2-3 shorter days) Flexible weekday scheduling Opportunity for additional hours as the season progresses through: New client growth Fall garden cleanups Bulb planting Seasonal projects Potential expansion of an existing maintenance route Strong performers will receive priority consideration for returning next season. Compensation $24-26 per hour, depending on experience. What You'll Do Weed and cultivate ornamental planting beds Deadhead, prune, and divide perennials when appropriate Prune shrubs using proper horticultural techniques Identify common weeds and invasive plants Monitor plants for insects, disease, and other issues Apply mulch and pre-emergent products as directed Maintain detailed notes using Trello (training provided) Independently complete scheduled garden maintenance visits while maintaining excellent client relationships What We're Looking For This is NOT an entry-level gardening position.
Qualified applicants should have:
Previous professional garden maintenance, horticulture, landscaping, nursery, or public garden experience A solid working knowledge of perennial and shrub identification Experience with proper pruning techniques The ability to work independently after initial training Excellent attention to detail and pride in producing high-quality work Reliability, professionalism, and strong communication skills The physical ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions Vehicle Requirements Applicants must have a dependable personal vehicle suitable for transporting gardening equipment. Your vehicle must be capable of safely carrying: Hand tools Long-handled tools Backpack or handheld blower Buckets Gardening supplies and materials A pickup truck or SUV is not required, but compact vehicles without adequate cargo capacity generally are not suitable for this position. What Makes This Position Different You'll work directly with a small company that values quality over speed. We are not interested in rushing through properties. Our clients expect thoughtful, detailed garden care, and we take pride in exceeding those expectations. You'll receive thorough route training, detailed property notes through Trello, and ongoing support. Our goal is for you to become confident enough to independently manage your assigned maintenance route after the initial onboarding period.

Pay:
$24.00 - $26.00 per hour
