We are seeking a motivated and dependable Groundman Laborer to join our dynamic telecommunications and fiber optic installation team. In this vital role, you will support the safe and efficient deployment of network infrastructure by assisting with cable installation, equipment setup, and site preparation. This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in outdoor telecommunications operations, heavy equipment handling, and fiber optic systems. Your energy and attention to safety will contribute directly to building reliable communication networks for our clients. Duties Assist with the installation and maintenance of fiber optic cables, telecommunications network cables, and related infrastructure in outdoor environments. Support the operation of heavy equipment such as bucket trucks, ladders, and other construction machinery under supervision. Use hand tools, power tools, ropes, and chainsaws safely. Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and engineering troubleshooting guides to aid in cable splicing and network setup. On job training to climb poles or ladders safely using appropriate climbing gear in accordance with the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC). Support telecommunications outside plant operations by preparing sites, laying cables, and performing cable splicing tasks. Assist lineman and crew to fulfill daily tasks Follow all safety protocols related to electrical work, low voltage systems, and outdoor construction activities. Maintain detailed records of work performed, including schematics, technical troubleshooting reports, and installation logs. Experience Prior experience working outdoors in construction or telecommunications environments is preferred. Familiarity with heavy equipment operation such as bucket trucks or ladders is a plus. Basic understanding of fiber optic cables, fiber splicing, and telecommunications testing equipment is advantageous. Hands-on experience with hand tools, power tools, voltmeters, and computer networking components such as switches or routers is desirable. Knowledge of the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) standards for outdoor electrical work is beneficial. Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and engineering troubleshooting guides confidently. Demonstrated ability to perform climbing tasks safely on utility poles or towers. Strong safety awareness combined with physical capability for outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
