Position overview: Seeking an energetic Groundskeeper to help keep three (3) rural properties in Western New York (roughly 600 acres) functionally and aesthetically healthy. The Groundskeeper will maintain lawns, fields, trails, trees, planters, flowers, pathways, and retaining walls. In the winter, the Groundskeeper will be responsible for clearing snow by blowing, plowing, and shoveling using various equipment. The Groundskeeper will also be charged with regular maintenance of large machinery as well as small equipment and tools.. To be successful in this role you need to be passionate about the appearance and health of the landscape and countryside, meticulous in the use and care of vehicles and equipment, and have an appreciation of the natural world. Light carpentry skills and a strong problem-solving attitude are highly prized, as is familiarity and comfort with basic horse chores and horse handling. The successful candidate will be exacting, reliable and comfortable taking direction.

Position responsibilities and duties:

• General property maintenance including: weed whacking, weeding, trail clearing, planting, pruning, mowing, raking gravel, winter driveway maintenance, responsible invasive species management/removal, care for hardscaping (fences, driveways, decks, patios, arenas) and landscaping (trees, planters, flower beds, ditches), maple production, biochar oversight, maintenance of water systems, help fence repair and painting•Regular maintenance of all horse trailers and other farm equipment•Light carpentry and small repairs to farm equipment and buildings•Follow all safety protocols for the operation of heavy equipment and use of chemicals and equipment•Oil and filter changes for farm machinery and recordkeeping•Moving, setting and storing jumps and equestrian equipment•Seasonal snow clearing, including blowing, plowing, and shoveling•Basic administrative tasks as needed•Basic horse chores and horse handling as needed

Qualifications:

1. Enjoy working outdoors in all temperatures and conditions 2. Two (2) years of groundskeeping experience such as lawn care, machine operation or maintenance, and snow removal is preferred 4. A strong problem-solving attitude 5. Able to responsibly operate and follow a maintenance schedule for a variety of light and heavy machinery and farm equipment, especially mowers, tractors, chainsaw, weedwacker; experience is preferred 6. Able to regularly lift 50 pounds, and comfortable with extensive periods of sitting, standing and bending down during shift 7. Ability to understand verbal directions and closely execute with minimal supervision; comfortable communicating with management via text or email 8. A valid and clean driver's license, and reliable transportation to work sites 9. Free from health issues that interfere with Groundskeeper duties 10. Honesty, determination, willingness to learn and a can-do attitude are paramount to success in this position 11. Familiarity and comfort with basic horse chores and horse handling a plus
