This seasonal position is responsible for the maintenance of municipal parks and cemeteries. Duties performed are of a manual and unskilled nature requiring physical endurance and a willingness to perform menial tasks. Direct supervision is received from higher level personnel. Related work is performed as required.

CITY RESIDENCY IS REQUIRED AT TIME OF APPLICATION

Trims hedges, and prunes trees, using hand tools; Mows lawns, using hand or power-driven lawnmower; Cleans up glass and litter; Empties trash receptacles; Repairs and paints benches and tables; Operates a variety of grounds maintenance equipment (mowers, leaf and snow blowers, sod cutters, string trimmers, etc.); Performs minor preventative maintenance on play apparatus, and other park or cemetery equipment; Removes snow from walkways, steps, and driveways; May assist in preparing, digging, and filling of grave sites; May assist in preparing and setting foundations for headstones. Three (3) months of full-time paid experience (or its part-time equivalent) in a position related to exterior maintenance of grounds, plantings, or recreation areas.
