Job Summary Join our dynamic outdoor maintenance team as an Outdoor Maintenance Team Member in Downtown ! This energetic role offers the opportunity to work outdoors, ensuring the beauty, safety, and functionality of public spaces. You will be instrumental in maintaining landscaped areas, operating groundskeeping equipment, and supporting various horticultural and hardscape projects. Duties Sidewalk sweeping and daily cleaning/maintenance to keep Downtown Schenectady clean and welcoming.

Spring/Summer:

Perform landscape maintenance tasks including mowing, trimming, planting, pruning, and watering to keep outdoor areas vibrant and inviting

Fall/Winter:

Assist with leaf and snow removal in public areas, ensuring safety measures for visitors Operate grounds maintenance equipment such as lawnmowers, power tools, snow blowers, and hardscape tools safely and efficiently Identify various plants, flowers, shrubs, and trees to ensure proper care and health of landscaped areas Follow all safety procedures diligently to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and team members Experience Prior outdoor work experience or landscaping background preferred but not required; training will be provided for the right candidate Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions with physical stamina and attention to safety protocolsBasic mechanical knowledge of tools and equipment used in grounds maintenance Familiarity with landscape maintenance practices such as mowing, gardening, and plant identification Experience operating groundskeeping machinery including lawnmowers, trimmers, irrigation controllers, and power tools Knowledge of horticulture principles and pesticide management best practices is a plus Knowledge of small engine mechanics a plus Join us in creating beautiful outdoor spaces that enhance our community!
