A Landscaping or Groundskeeping Worker provides landscaping for residences, parks, public gardens, college campuses or building or office park grounds. Provides care for plants and trees including mowing, trimming and planting, and repairs driveways, walks, benches or other structures.
Hours and schedule will vary by season (i.e. fewer during the off-season, more throughout the summer months.)

GENERAL PURPOSE
The Head Groundskeeper serves as the primary technical manager of agronomic care, turfgrass health, irrigation infrastructure, and physical grounds for the Village's municipal golf course; Assist in the formulation and implementation of long-range plans.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develops and executes annual agronomic maintenance schedules for greens, tees, fairways, and roughs, including mowing height adjustments, topdressing, and core aeration Plan and coordinate chemical spray programs using proper spray schedules; All spray applications must be applied using state rules and regulations established by the Department of Agriculture Diagnoses and treats turf diseases, weed infestations, insect damage, and environmental stress using Integrated Pest Management (IPM) techniques Mixes, handles, applies, and records specialized fertilizers, fungicides, herbicides, and insecticides in strict compliance with Ohio Department of Agriculture regulations and SDS protocols Responsible for proper watering and irrigation of the golf course; responsible for the routine maintenance and repair of the golf course irrigation system and components Directs daily course setup activities, including cup cutting, tee marker positioning, bunker raking, hazard line painting, and repair of ball marks and divots Oversees the maintenance of non-turf grounds, including cart paths, footbridges, timber retaining walls, shelters, perimeter fencing, and parking lot areas Assigns, schedules, and supervises daily work routines for seasonal golf course grounds laborers and clubhouse maintenance attendants; Ensure employees receive proper training on equipment that they are assigned to operate and tasks that they are required to complete Operates precision golf course machinery, including greens mowers, fairway triplexes, gang mowers, aerators, verticutters, topdressers, and utility sprayers Performs daily height-of-cut calibrations, bedknife adjustments, and pre-operation visual inspections on cutting units; coordinates mechanical overhauls with Village Mechanic Direct and/or assist in the maintenance and repair of a variety of machinery and equipment. Examples include tractors, riding mowers, aerators, chain saws and a variety of power and hand tools such as weed eaters and leaf blowers Implement and manage a preventive maintenance program in collaboration with Village Mechanic; maintain all related maintenance records for equipment Maintains accurate inventory records for fertilizers, turf chemicals, grass seed, topdressing sand, and irrigation repair fittings. Tracking of employee timecards and verification of hours worked Management of Appropriated Ground Funds and PO System
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
Licensing & Special Certifications Pesticide Applicator License:
Valid State of Ohio Commercial Pesticide Applicator License (CORE and Category 8) required at time of hire or obtainable within ninety (90) days of employment.
Driver's License:
Valid State of Ohio Driver's License Education and Experience Minimum:
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school experience maintaining landscaped areas, spraying chemical applications, maintaining and repairing irrigation systems and operating grounds equipment, including at least one year in a lead capacity on a regular or interim basis.
Preferred:
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to two years in Turf Management, Horticulture, Environmental Soil Science, Environmental Science, Natural Resources or related field.
