Position Overview:

At Landoll's Mohican Castle, the natural beauty of our grounds is just as important as the historic charm of our castle. We're seeking a Head Landscaper & Groundskeeper to take the lead in maintaining and enhancing the 30+ acres of rolling hills, woods, gardens, and outdoor spaces that make our resort unforgettable. This is a hands-on leadership role ideal for someone who thrives outdoors, takes pride in detailed landscaping work, and can also support basic interior maintenance tasks when needed.

Primary Responsibilities:

Landscaping & Grounds (70%) Oversee all aspects of landscape maintenance across the estate including mowing, edging, trimming, weeding, mulching, and leaf removal. Design and implement seasonal planting plans for flowerbeds, planters, and decorative landscaping. Maintain walking trails, natural features, and outdoor seating areas, ensuring they are safe, clean, and visually appealing. Help the setup and teardown of exterior event spaces, including weddings and public events. Manage seasonal tasks including snow removal, salting walkways, and setting up holiday decorations and lighting displays. Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot landscaping tools and equipment such as tractors, excavators, mowers, trimmers, blowers, chainsaws, and snowplows. Recommend and manage improvements to the property's landscape design and functionality.

Secondary Responsibilities:

General Maintenance (30%) Assist with repairs inside the Castle, cabins, restaurant, and staff areas (e.g., patching drywall, painting, changing fixtures). Perform light plumbing, electrical, and HVAC-related tasks as needed. Support small renovation projects and regular property upkeep. Respond to maintenance requests from other departments in a timely manner.

What We're Looking For:

High school diploma or GED required. 2+ years of experience in landscaping or groundskeeping, preferably on a commercial or hospitality property. Familiarity with landscape design, planting techniques, equipment operation, and lawncare best practices. General knowledge of interior maintenance tasks such as plumbing, electrical, or carpentry. Strong problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude. Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions and able to lift 50+ lbs. Valid driver's license required. Ability to operate trucks, trailers, and landscape machinery. Must be available for occasional weekends, on-call snow events, or weather-related emergencies.

Schedule:

Day shifts (8-hour shifts) Monday to Friday with weekend flexibility a few times a month On-call for weather-related issues Schedule will fluxgate in the winter based on snow removal needs but will aways be a minimum of 40 hours
