  • Heavy Equipment Operator / Mowing Crew Heckel Vegetation Management is hiring dependable, hardworking individuals to join our growing railroad vegetation management team.
We are looking for experienced heavy equipment operators as well as crew members for commercial mowing and vegetation management. This position involves travel throughout multiple states, working primarily along railroad rights-of-way. If you enjoy working outdoors, traveling, and being part of a team, we'd love to hear from you. Schedule Travel 3-4 weeks at a time, followed by approximately 1 week at home Full-time Overtime opportunities available Responsibilities Operate heavy equipment such as excavators, skid steers, tractors, and commercial mowing equipment (depending on experience) Perform railroad right-of-way vegetation management Mow, trim, clear brush, and maintain railroad property Assist with loading, unloading, and maintaining equipment Follow all railroad and company safety procedures Work outdoors in various weather conditions Qualifications Heavy equipment experience is preferred but not required for all positions Commercial mowing or landscaping experience is a plus Valid driver's license required CDL is preferred Must be willing to travel extensively Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen, background check, and any railroad-required screenings Must be dependable, safety-minded, and able to work well with a team Benefits Competitive pay based on experience Daily per diem while traveling Company-paid lodging while working out of town Health insurance Paid time off Bonus opportunities Opportunities for advancement Join a company that values hard work, teamwork, and safety while offering steady, year-round employment and the opportunity to travel throughout the country.
