SUMMARY Under the general supervision of the Parks and Grounds Crew Lead, performs general labor and maintenance of City parks, park facilities, lawns, grounds, street medians, and other cultivated areas within the City, in accordance with all applicable safety regulations and procedures.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Provides excellent customer service and maintains a positive working relationship with staff, coworkers, elected officials, supervisors, citizens, businesses, and community groups. Plants and waters grass, flowers, trees, and shrubs. Sprays lawns, trees, and shrubs with fertilizer, herbicides, and insecticides. Cuts lawns and trims and edges around walks, flowerbeds, and walls. Prunes trees and shrubs to shape and improve growth; removes damaged leaves, branches, and twigs; and rakes and collects leaves. Cleans and maintains all grounds, including ditches and culverts, and removes litter as needed. Shovels snow from walks and driveways and spreads salt on public streets and sidewalks as needed. Maintains, repairs, paints, and replaces fences, gates, walls, walks, and outbuildings as needed. Sharpens and maintains tools, including weed cutters, edging tools, and shears. Performs minor repairs on equipment, including lawn mowers, spreaders, and snow removal equipment. Performs all other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL
Ability to work well under pressure, prioritize projects, and meet deadlines with attention to detail. Effective oral and written communication. Knowledge of an adherence to departmental, personnel, and safety policies and procedures. Ability to operate various types of landscape equipment, including but not limited to mowers, leaf blowers, edgers, trimmers, chainsaws, brush hogs, spreaders, and snow removal equipment.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND LICENSES /CERTIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or GED. Valid Texas Class C Drivers License required. Must possess or obtain within one (1) year of employment, a Pesticide Applicator License. OR Any combination of related education and experience that will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job. •Obtaining a Pesticide Applicator License is required within one (1) year of employment.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to: Must be able to wear City-approved Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Ability to lift or move objects up to 80 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and sit; handle, grasp, feel, and reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl; and occasionally climb or balance. The employee is also exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; outside weather conditions; high, precarious places; confined spaces; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. In all cases, appropriate procedures and PPE will be utilized. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Must pass a pre-employment drug test. Must pass a drivers license check, criminal history background check, and social security number verification. Must be able to work overtime and emergency call back as needed or determined by the business needs of the department.
