Job Description

Job Summary:
The ideal candidate must possess an understanding of Islamic burial traditions (Janazah), grave alignment protocols, and the deep respect required when caring for an all-Muslim cemetery. The All Muslim Association of America (AMAA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit religious organization established in 1989. Our mission is to serve the Muslim community across the DMV region by providing dignified, low-cost, and Sharia-compliant funeral and burial services. We are seeking a dedicated, respectful, and hardworking Cemetery Groundskeeper to maintain our sacred burial grounds and assist with daily interment operations. As a registered religious organization, and in accordance with Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the AMAA exercises its legal right to prefer applicants who share our Islamic faith.
Key Responsibilities:
Landscaping & Groundskeeping Mowing, trimming, edging, pruning, and blowing Planting, watering, and caring for trees, shrubs, and flowers Seasonal cleanup: leaves, debris, storm damage Maintain walkways, driveways, and common areas Burial Operations Mark, dig, and close graves (manual or equipment-assisted) Set up gravesite pole‑vault structure Assist with positioning the deceased per cultural and spiritual customs Install headstones, markers, and signage Support funeral and burial service setup Equipment Operation Operate mowers, trimmers, backhoes, dump trucks, and utility vehicles Perform routine inspections and minor repairs Transport soil, materials, and equipment Custodial Duties Clean office areas, lobbies, hallways, and restrooms Replenish restroom supplies Remove trash and maintain cleanliness of all public areas Weather‑Related Duties Snow and ice removal Manage drainage during heavy rain Respond to weather‑related hazards promptly Family Interaction & Teamwork Provide respectful assistance to grieving families Communicate clearly with supervisors and team members Follow instructions and complete tasks reliably Safety & Compliance Follow OSHA regulations (excavation, PPE, hazard communication) Use required
PPE:
hard hat, boots, gloves, high‑visibility gear Report hazards and participate in safety training
Qualifications :
High school diploma or GED preferred Landscaping or groundskeeping experience a plus Ability to lift 50 lbs and work outdoors in all weather Valid driver's license required Reliable, respectful, and detail‑oriented Work Environment Outdoor work in heat, cold, rain, and snow Exposure to dirt, dust, noise, and heavy equipment Weekend or holiday work may be required
Pay:
$20.21 - $25.00 per hour
