Role Overview
VersAbility Resources is seeking an experienced Lead Grounds Worker to provide day-to-day leadership while performing commercial grounds maintenance services at our Yorktown Government Contract location. This hands-on leadership position works alongside Grounds Maintenance Workers while coordinating daily work assignments, monitoring quality and productivity, providing coaching and on-the-job training, and ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with government contract requirements. The ideal candidate enjoys working outdoors, leads by example, takes pride in producing high-quality work, and is committed to creating a safe, productive, and customer-focused work environment. This position provides operational leadership but does not have responsibility for hiring, performance evaluations, or disciplinary decisions.

What You'll Do
- Perform commercial grounds maintenance in accordance with government contract requirements.
- Coordinate daily work assignments and organize workflow to meet productivity and quality standards.
- Provide day-to-day leadership, coaching, and on-the-job training to Grounds Maintenance Workers.
- Monitor work quality, attendance, productivity, and safety practices.
- Operate and oversee the safe operation of commercial landscaping equipment.
- Perform mowing, edging, trimming, pruning, mulching, planting, weed control, irrigation checks, and seasonal grounds maintenance.
- Inspect grounds and facilities to identify maintenance and safety concerns.
- Coordinate equipment inspections, maintenance, and repairs.
- Complete work orders, inspections, reports, and required documentation.
- Promote a safe, organized, and customer-focused work environment.
- Maintain positive relationships with customers, government representatives, coworkers, and leadership.
- Perform other duties as assigned. ________________________________________ Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Minimum of two (2) years of leadership experience.
- Minimum of three (3) years of commercial grounds maintenance, landscaping, facilities maintenance, or related experience.
- Experience leading work crews, coordinating daily work assignments, or training employees preferred.
- Experience operating commercial landscaping equipment.
- Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to safely operate landscaping equipment and maintain quality standards.
- Ability to successfully complete any background screening, identity verification, credentialing, or installation access requirements necessary to obtain and maintain access to government facilities required by the assigned contract.
- Lead a team while continuing to work hands-on in the field.
- Work outdoors maintaining government facilities and landscapes.
