Job Description
Job Summary This is a very part time position. Seasonal work during mowing season and project based the remainder of the year. We are seeking a proactive and energetic Groundsman to join our team and play a vital role in maintaining the health, safety, and aesthetic appeal of our outdoor spaces. As a Groundsman, you will be responsible for supporting landscaping, tree care, and grounds maintenance activities across various outdoor environments. Your work will help ensure that our grounds are safe, vibrant, and visually appealing, contributing to the overall excellence of our property. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your skills in horticulture, arboriculture, and outdoor maintenance while working in a dynamic team environment. Responsibilities Assist with tree removal, pruning, trimming, and planting to promote healthy growth and safety. Operate equipment such as bucket trucks and chainsaws safely and efficiently for tree care and landscaping tasks. Use arborist rigging techniques to support safe tree pruning and removal operations. Maintain grounds by performing lawn care, landscaping, planting, and general upkeep activities. Follow strict safety protocols during all outdoor work to prevent accidents and ensure compliance with safety standards. Support the use of GIS (Geographic Information Systems) for mapping and planning grounds maintenance activities. Perform rigging tasks involving the secure placement of heavy objects or branches using appropriate tools and techniques. Experience Previous outdoor work experience in landscaping, horticulture, or grounds maintenance preferred. Familiarity with tree care practices including pruning, trimming, and removal techniques. Experience operating bucket trucks, chainsaws, and other landscaping equipment is highly desirable. Knowledge of arborist rigging techniques and tree removal procedures is a plus. Understanding of safety protocols related to outdoor work environments is essential. Growing experience in horticulture or dendrology (the study of trees) will be considered an asset. Basic skills in land management tools such as GIS software or similar mapping systems are advantageous.
