Yard Sprayer Moon Valley Nurseries - 3.1 El Cajon, CA Job Details Full-time $16.90 - $25.00 an hour 20 hours ago Benefits Health insurance 401(k) Paid time off Qualifications Environmental stewardship Outdoor work experience Full Job Description Job Summary As a Retail Yard Sprayer at Moon Valley Nurseries, you will be responsible for applying fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, and other plant treatments to ensure the health and vitality of our nursery inventory. Your primary role will involve safely and accurately mixing, spraying, and applying chemicals in accordance with established protocols and safety guidelines. This position requires attention to detail, technical expertise, and a commitment to environmental stewardship. Key Duties and Responsibilities Prepare and apply fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, and other plant treatments to nursery inventory, following prescribed application rates and schedules. Use specialized equipment such as sprayers, backpack sprayers, and hand-held applicators to ensure uniform coverage and effective treatment. Communicate and display notices in central posting areas of the nursery, detailing the locations and times of scheduled pesticide treatments, as well as any specific safety instructions or precautions to be observed. Maintain a neat, organized, safe, and secure pesticide storage area in compliance with regulatory requirements. This includes applicator personal protective equipment (PPE) is fully stocked, accessible and organized. Conduct regular inspections of PPE to ensure it is in good condition and replace any damaged or expired equipment promptly. Complete the pesticide application log prior to each treatment. Maintain thorough and organized records tracking pesticide usage and compliance with regulatory requirements. Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines while handling and applying chemicals. Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required, and follow proper procedures for chemical storage, handling, and disposal to minimize risks to yourself, colleagues, and the environment. Demonstrated availability to work any day of the week. Other duties and tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Ability to perform manual labor. Previous experience within pesticide application, horticulture, or a related field is preferred but not required. Ability to follow specific instructions and safety protocols. Education High School diploma or equivalent preferred. Physical requirements/Working Conditions While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to verbally exchange information with colleagues, managers and vendors. The position is active and may require standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing throughout the day. The employee must frequently reach for, pull, lift, and/or move items weighing up to and over 75 lbs. The employee must be able to work outdoors for extended periods of time in possibly extreme conditions, including rain, heat, sun, and wind.
