Job Description

Charleston County Public Works is seeking motivated, safety-focused individuals who enjoy working outdoors to join our Mosquito Control team. HIRING SALARY
$19.45 PER
HOUR OPEN UNTIL FILLED - APPLICATION REVIEW BEGINS IMMEDIATELY
Primary Duties:
  • The Spray Technician operates spray trucks and Ultra Low Volume (ULV) equipment in compliance with federal, state, and County regulations to treat assigned areas.
  • Responsibilities include working with various pesticides, maintaining operational records, updating spray maps, and assisting with equipment and truck refurbishment during non-mosquito season.
  • Additional duties include supporting mosquito field activities and maintaining a clean, safe vehicle and workspace.
  • Familiarity with Charleston County geography is a plus.
  • Night and weekend shifts are required during active mosquito season.
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions
  • Commitment to providing excellent customer service
  • Strong safety mindset and ability to work well in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Ability to lift 55 lbs.
  • Reliable transportation
  • Valid South Carolina driver's license with a safe driving record
  • Ability to obtain a Category 8 pesticide applicator's license within 6 months of hire
  • Willingness to report during hazardous weather or emergency conditions
  • Ability to read maps and follow directions
