Baisch & Skinner is a wholesale floral distributor based in St. Louis, MO with six branch store locations throughout the Midwest. Importers of fresh cut flowers, permanent botanicals, decoratives, glassware, plants and floral supplies, Baisch & Skinner is a business-to-business distributor that serves the floral, design, and hospitality industries.
Job Summary:
The Distribution Greenhouse Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily greenhouse operations, ensuring accurate inventory flow, timely fulfillment of transfers, and supervising a team of dedicated workers. This role focuses on keeping the greenhouse facilities well maintained, operations running efficiently, and making sure service expectations are consistently met.
Responsibilities:
  • Primary contact for customers served by the distribution greenhouses, including periodic calls/contact with distribution greenhouse customers, as the selling season warrants.
  • Act as the primary contact for unique and unusual greenhouse product requests by plant advocates and distribution greenhouse customers.
  • Monitor plant inventory levels and advise the purchasing agent of special requests, shortages, and inventory concerns.
  • Assist the Greenhouse Operations Assistant as needed by receiving plant shipments, including unloading vehicles, accepting deliveries, and unpacking plants.
  • Confirm accurate receipt of products and process purchase order receipts in NetSuite.
  • Communicate daily with greenhouse assistant to assess incoming shipment, pending transfer requests, and staffing needs.
  • Assist with and coordinate the pulling and processing of daily transfer requests from branch locations and verify that transfer requests are received by location in a timely manner.
  • Communicate with the shipping department regarding outbound shipments.
  • Facilitate the maintenance of greenhouse grounds, ensuring facilities are neat and orderly. Identify maintenance needs as they arise.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • A degree in Horticulture, Agriculture, or related field is preferred.
  • At least 2-3 years of experience in greenhouse management or wholesale floral operations
  • Proven ability to manage a diverse workforce and communicate effectively with multiple departments.
  • Experience with inventory management software or wholesale order fulfillment a plus
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills for professional phone and personal contacts.
  • Attention to detail for quality checks and inventory.
  • Strong work ethic with a demonstrated customer service focus and a professional demeanor and appearance.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule to accommodate seasonal heavy work volume.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
  • Ability to frequently lift and carry items weight up to 50 lbs.
  • Capacity to stand and walk on concrete or uneven surfaces for an entire shift.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, and reaching overhead to maintain plants and organize inventory.
  • Comfortable working in high heat and humidity with the green house.
  • Ability to safely operate ladders, hand trucks, and cars to mov inventory.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment where order accuracy and speed are critical.
