Job Description

The Propagator is expected to lead their crew in cooperation with other growers and departments to accomplish tasks such as cutting propagation of hardwood and softwood cuttings, maintain liner inventory, purchase supplies needed for department, locate and inspect cutting stock plants in current inventory, create SOP's for new cultivars, manage a crew of approximately 17 individuals, coordinate cutting with inventory and shear crew leaders, coordinate sticking with liner division crew leaders. as well as other duties as assigned. Greenleaf's end goal is producing exceptional, high quality plants grown to meet our demanding standards and further our ambition of exceeding the expectations of our loyal customers.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
Leading a foreman and a crew of 15+ Maintaining Greenleaf safety standards Maintaining an expense and labor budget Perform weekend duty on rotation Working with staff to maintain irrigation control and efficiency standards Scheduling of PGR applications Other duties that pertain to finishing the crop on time Inspections of crop health Some travel may be required
Knowledge/Skills Required:
• Clean driver's license and can pass a drug test and criminal background check Strong woody plant identification skills Strong organizational skills Must be able to work within a team Willing to work longer hours during peak season and weekends as necessary Ability to communicate well with subordinates, colleagues and upper management staff Must be flexible and able to adapt to change
Desired Skills/Experience:
• Ability to communicate in Spanish is a plus Computer skills: Outlook, Word and basic Excel knowledge is preferred Prior growing and/or propagation experience preferred
Required Education/Experience:
• Bachelor's degree in Horticulture/Floriculture or closely related field; may substitute for 5+ years relevant work experience.

Full-time Pay:
$55,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
