ABOUT THE POSITION
"The County of Riverside seeks candidates to fill positions throughout Riverside County. A list of eligible candidates will be established to fill current and future vacancies." The Riverside County Regional Park and Open-Space District has an opportunity for a Park Attendant at Lake Skinner Recreation Area, located in Winchester. The Park Attendant will be responsible for providing frontline guest services to park visitors while maintaining a clean, safe and welcoming environment throughout the park. Answering inquiries and providing information on park amenities, services, rules and regulations both in person and over the phone. Assist with general facility maintenance such as cleaning of event spaces, restrooms, wiping down tables and chairs and sweeping floors. Assist with special events and other duties required for the operation of Lake Skinner Recreation Area. Competitive candidates will have experience in a customer service or guest-facing roles and conflict resolution skills. Will have strong experience in cash handling and Point-of-Sale systems (POS) or fee collection procedures. Have basic audio/visual setup and troubleshooting skills for events. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with the public in a courteous, tactful manner. This position follows a 5/40 schedule
  • work hours will vary, may include evenings/nights or weekends and holidays.
Days off will vary depending on the Park District needs. Under general supervision, to assess and collect user fees at assigned park; to assist in the registration of visitors using park facilities; to provide information on park services, rules and regulations; and to do other work as required. Incumbents in positions of this class work with minimal supervision at parks throughout Riverside County. Primary responsibilities include providing information and assistance to visitors, and assessing and collecting fees. Meet the Team! EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Greets park visitors, and determines appropriate fees based on usage of park services; collects fees, issues receipts and permits, assigns visitors to various camping areas, and records all registration information.
  • Prepares daily reports of revenue and receipts, and park usage; prepares and delivers bank deposits as scheduled.
  • Answers inquiries and provides information on park services, rules, and regulations in person and over the phone; observes established procedures to ensure the safety and security of visitors including refusing entry to persons not conforming to regulations.
  • Assigns work and explains procedures to volunteers; provides assistance in emergency situations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS EITHER I
Experience:
Six months of experience which involved collection of money, record keeping, and dealing with the public.
OR II Experience:
Six months of experience performing clerical work directly related to parks operations.
Knowledge of:
Simple record keeping procedures and basic arithmetic.
Ability to:
Read, understand, and apply regulations pertaining to the use and operation of County parks; perform math computations quickly and accurately; keep accurate records according to prescribed procedures; explain regulations, policies, and procedures in a tactful and courteous manner; work independently.

License:
Possession of a valid California Driver License is required in order to use county vehicles to pick up materials based on department needs.
Physical Requirements:
Regular exposure to outdoor elements including rain, wind, and extreme heat (often exceeding 115°F during summer). Must be able to work on their feet, will be standing and walking for extended periods throughout the park. Lifting and carrying supplies, equipment or tables (up to 50 lbs.)
