POSITION OVERVIEW

As a Pest Control Technician, you will be the face of Portage Turf and Pest — helping our customers identify and eliminate unwanted pests while contributing to the growth of the business through excellent service and the recommendation of customized programs and solutions. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a field environment, enjoys working with people, and takes ownership of their results.

COMPENSATION

$20.00 - $24.00 per hour, commensurate with experience.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Inspect residential and commercial buildings and properties for signs of pest activity or infestation.
• Identify pest types and determine the appropriate treatment method, including accurate measurements and estimates of the affected area.
• Apply baits, traps, pesticides, and fumigation techniques to remove, control, or eliminate pests safely and effectively.
• Design and implement customized pest management plans tailored to each customer's needs.
• Install barriers and preventive measures to reduce the risk of future pest entry.
• Educate customers on prevention strategies and recommend additional pest control services and programs to meet their ongoing needs.
• Deliver outstanding customer service by addressing concerns, answering questions, and following up on service visits.
• Maintain thorough and accurate records of all inspections, treatments, and follow-up visits; submit reports as required by management and regulatory agencies.
• Operate company vehicles equipped with power spraying equipment and other specialized pest control tools in a safe and professional manner.
• Wear and properly maintain all required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
• Read, understand, and follow all chemical label instructions; apply pesticides in full compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record (minimal points).
• Ability to pass a pre-employment background check.
• Prior pest control or related field service experience preferred; pest control license or willingness to obtain one required.
• Strong communication skills and a customer-first mindset.
• Self-motivated with the ability to manage a route independently and meet daily productivity goals.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This position requires regular physical activity in a variety of environments. Candidates must be able to perform the following with or without reasonable accommodation:

• Lift, carry, and maneuver equipment or materials weighing up to 75 pounds.
• Stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and climb for extended periods throughout the workday.
• Work in confined, cramped, or uncomfortable spaces such as crawl spaces, attics, and basements.
• Work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and humidity.
• Operate power equipment and hand tools requiring manual dexterity.
• Wear personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators, gloves, and protective clothing, for extended periods.
