ROLE AND PURPOSE

Under general supervision, the position is responsible for applying gels, bait, foam, granular products, monitoring and pest control devices for pest control management on school district properties. Structural pest control includes, but is not limited to identifying infestations, developing inspection reports, providing recommendations and performing services to control, prevent and eliminate pest problems.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Certification:

High School graduate or GED equivalent

Experience:

Licensed technician minimum one year (preferred) Employed in pest control services minimum one year under the supervision of a licensed certified applicator (preferred)

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

Must have a valid Texas Driver's license (Class C required) and satisfactory driving record Ability to interpret and follow the Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Policy for public schools Knowledge and ability to use standardized application equipment Knowledge of the composition, structure, and properties of substances and of the chemical processes and transformations they undergo; this includes uses of chemicals, their interactions, danger signs, production techniques and disposal methods Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws applicable to pesticide application in a school environment

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

Study preliminary reports and diagrams of reported pest problem areas and determine treatment type required to eliminate and prevent recurrence of pest problems Inspect premises to identify pest type, location of sightings or harborage, source and extent of damage of property, wall and roof porosity and access to treatable areas Place bait, gel, foam, granular products, or monitoring and pest control devices in strategic locations to maximize their effect Maintain accurate records to show pesticides used, dosage, times, places, and methods of applications Ensures best manage practices for storage and disposal of pesticides conforms to regulations Maintain certification by attending recertification seminars annually as required

Indoor and outdoor work environment Exposure to extreme temperature ranges Moderate walking, standing, climbing, lifting, bending, stooping and reaching Frequent district-wide travel in light duty pick-up truck Able to lift up to 50 pounds as required
