Position Summary:
Under general supervision, the incumbent performs skilled work in the maintenance and upkeep of tree trimming and other similar duties as assigned. Work is reviewed through oral and written reports, discussion, and results obtained.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The following duties are illustrative and not exhaustive. Performs skilled tree trimming tasks including the operation of heavy automotive equipment and gasoline powered machinery. Assists with construction and maintenance of park areas. Washes, cleans and performs routine first level maintenance to the equipment. Make daily written and oral reports. Assumes all duties and responsibilities in the absence of immediate supervisor. For declared disasters, position is considered "essential'; works with City crews during preparation and recovery operations (road clearing, debris removal from rights of way and city properties, inspection of facilities, etc.). Performs other job duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge, principles and methods of operating heavy automotive construction equipment. Knowledge of practices, methods and materials used in tree trimming activities, fence installation, construction and maintenance. Knowledge of rules and regulations pertaining to safety operation of equipment. Ability to perform manual work. Ability to follow and understand oral and written instructions. Skilled in operating, cleaning and maintaining equipment. Skilled in the operation of hand and power tool. Performs other job duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an equivalency diploma. One (1) year of experience in automotive construction equipment and gasoline-powered machinery. One (1) year of experience in the operation and principles of tree trimming. Must demonstrate the ability to read, write and understand English. A combination of education, training, and experience may be substituted at the City Manager's discretion.
Certificates and Licenses:
Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Class B CDL driver's license and must be insurable by the City's current insurance provider. National Incident Management System (NIMS) training will be required according to the job duties and responsibilities within one (1) year of employment.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Instructs, leads, assigns, and delegates tree trimming maintenance tasks to workers in the absence of immediate supervisor. Turns in a monthly report of daily activities/tasks involved with area of responsibility.
