This position will be responsible for the architectural design, preparation, coordination, review, and stamping of construction documents for multiple residential projects throughout Northern California. The Architect will oversee a team of drafters and designers, ensure compliance with applicable codes and regulations, and collaborate closely with engineering consultants, project managers, and construction teams. Key Responsibilities Architectural Design & Planning Design and develop residential tract home floor plans, elevations, and architectural details. Create innovative, cost-effective, and market-driven home designs that meet project objectives. Ensure designs comply with California Building Code, local jurisdiction requirements, energy regulations, accessibility standards, and other applicable regulations. Coordinate with civil, structural, MEP, landscape, and other consultants throughout the design process. Construction Documents & Plan Approval Prepare, review, and approve complete construction drawing sets for residential developments. Sign and seal architectural plans as Architect of Record for applicable projects. Manage plan revisions and respond to comments from building departments and regulatory agencies. Ensure drawing accuracy, completeness, and consistency across all projects. Team Leadership & Oversight Supervise and mentor drafting staff, designers, and other architectural personnel. Establish drafting standards, quality control procedures, and document management practices. Review work produced by team members and provide technical guidance. Coordinate workload and priorities among drafting and design staff to meet project schedules. Project Management Manage multiple projects simultaneously from conceptual design through permit approval and construction support. Maintain project schedules and ensure timely delivery of design milestones. Collaborate with internal departments including land acquisition, construction, sales, and development teams. Attend project meetings and provide architectural expertise throughout the development process. Regulatory Compliance & Quality Assurance Stay current on California building codes, zoning requirements, and industry best practices. Conduct quality assurance reviews of plans and specifications. Address field issues, RFIs, and construction-related design questions as needed. Support permit processing and entitlement efforts when required. Qualifications Required Active Architect license in the State of California. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture from an accredited institution. Minimum 5-10 years of architectural experience, with significant experience in residential tract home design. Demonstrated experience preparing and signing residential construction documents. Strong knowledge of California Building Code, Title 24 Energy Code, zoning requirements, and permitting processes. Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, and other architectural design software. Experience managing multiple projects and supervising drafting/design teams. Preferred Experience working with production homebuilders or residential developers. Knowledge of value engineering and construction cost optimization. Experience with master-planned communities and large-scale residential developments.
