Job Description

Laborer - Asphalt Plant Dublin, VA 24084 Share Share Email Post Share Under general supervision of a plant superintendent, the Laborer performs a variety of manual or semiskilled tasks related to cleanup and grounds maintenance in and around asphalt plant.
RESPONSIBILITES
Plant Maintenance & Upkeep:
Perform general maintenance on asphalt plant machinery, including greasing, adjusting equipment, and cleaning the plant area, conveyors, and silos.
Production Support:
Assist with the production of hot mix asphalt and pulling material samples for quality control.
Safety Compliance:
Adhere to all company safety regulations and procedures, wearing necessary personal protective equipment (PPE). Uses tools such as sledge hammer, wrenches, screwdrivers, cutting torch, welder, pneumatic hammer/drill, sand blaster, pipe wrench, hand shovel. Must be physically capable of climbing stairs/ladders at extended heights to reach top of plant.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The ability to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects The ability to use one's abdominal and lower back muscles to support part of the body repeatedly or continuously over time without "giving out" or fatiguing The ability to quickly move the arms or legs The ability to exert one's self physically over long periods of time without getting winded or out of breath Able to understand and follow verbal and or written directions paying attention to detail Ability to lift and carry heavy loads of up to 50 pounds or more on a daily basis
QUALIFICATIONS
High School diploma/GED. Must have reliable transportation Candidates must be able to work overtime, nights, and weekends, as projects demand. Candidates must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test as well as random tests if selected during employment.
