About This Opportunity This is a direct-hire opportunity with an established commercial masonry contractor that's been building across Indiana for over 25 years. A member of the Mason Contractors Association, the company has built its reputation on major commercial projects — including a large university residence hall project and a corporate headquarters relocation for a national industrial equipment company. Known for craftsmanship, safety, and integrity on every job site, with real long-term career growth for the tradespeople who join the team. We're hiring experienced Masons who can hold a tight standard on commercial-scale work. What You'll Do Lay brick, block, and stone to specification — plumb, level, and to course, on both single- and double-wythe wall systems Build CMU (concrete masonry unit) walls, including grouted and reinforced cells with vertical rebar dowels Set up leads and run lines to maintain a true wall face across long runs Work multiple bond patterns — running bond, common bond, stack bond — per plan and detail Read drawings, elevations, and wall sections; work independently off numbered or lettered sequences Set and shoot laser/transit for coursing, plumb, and level; check work continuously for quality Install flashing and weep holes correctly at grade, shelf angles, and other transition points to manage moisture Set masonry ties and anchors connecting veneer to backup wall per spacing requirements Install lintels and work cleanly around openings, shelf angles, and structural transitions Tool mortar joints to spec — concave, V, raked, struck, or weathered — for a clean, consistent finish Mix and work mortar to proper type and consistency (Type N, Type S) for the application Cut and shape brick, block, and stone to fit; consolidate grout in reinforced cells Identify and prevent efflorescence through proper mortar mix and moisture control Work safely from scaffolding and masonry staging; follow OSHA scaffold and fall-protection standards Direct a tender to keep material, mortar, and block/brick flowing without delay Restoration and tuck-pointing/repointing work on existing masonry, when assigned What We're Looking For 2+ years laying brick, block, and/or stone — commercial experience
REQUIRED
Understands wall assemblies — CMU backup, brick veneer, cavity wall construction Comfortable working multiple bond patterns and joint tooling styles Knows control and expansion joint placement in masonry walls Reads prints, elevations, and wall sections; works independently off a sequence Owns hand tools — trowel, levels, jointers, line blocks Comfortable setting a laser/transit and keeping a wall plumb and to course on your own OSHA 10 or scaffold user certification a plus Schedule Peak season runs 45-55 hours/week; low season 35-45 hours/week. Generally 7 AM-5 PM, Monday-Friday, with some Saturdays required depending on the job.
Pay:
$28.00 - $42.15 per hour Expected hours: 45.0 - 55.0 per week
