In this role, you will be responsible for restoring and repairing historic and existing masonry structures, ensuring they meet safety standards and aesthetic requirements. Your expertise will help preserve architectural heritage while delivering high-quality craftsmanship on restoration projects. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on challenging projects that require precision, technical knowledge, and a passion for masonry restoration. Responsibilities - Have ability to run a 3-4 man crew of apprentices and laborers to complete task at hand.
- Main scope of repairs:
Chimney rebuilds/repairs, porch rebuilds/repairs, tuckpointing, minor stone work, sealant application, minor concrete repairs (Porch caps etc.) Prepare surfaces and structures by cleaning, chipping, or removing damaged mortar and bricks to facilitate repairs. Install rebar reinforcement and form concrete structures as needed for restoration purposes. Lay bricks, stones, and blocks with precision using hand tools and power tools to match existing structures. Apply mortar, stucco, plastering, and caulking techniques to ensure durable finishes that blend seamlessly with original materials. Build masonry scaffolds safely and efficiently to access elevated or hard-to-reach areas during restoration tasks. Maintain a clean work environment by following safety guidelines, inspecting tools regularly, and managing materials responsibly. Experience Proven masonry experience with a focus on restoration projects involving stone masonry, bricklaying, and concrete work. Hands-on experience with rebar installation, concrete forming, heavy equipment operation, and scaffolding building. Demonstrated ability to work safely in construction environments while adhering to all safety protocols. Strong commitment to quality craftsmanship with attention to detail in restoring architectural features using appropriate building materials.
