Company Overview Marble Granite World is a locally-based stone fabrication and installation company. For over 20 years, Marble Granite World has been working with homeowners and builders to provide quality, custom-made granite, marble, quartz, and other natural stone products. Our main products are kitchen and bathroom countertops, but we also produce fireplace surrounds, outdoor kitchens, tub surrounds, table tops, and much more. We work directly with our clients to ensure that each job is designed according to the client's specifications. Job Overview The Lead Stone Technician is MGW's senior field expert for warranty and service calls on installed countertops and stone surfaces. Working independently out of a company vehicle, this person diagnoses and repairs chips, cracks, failed seams, failed sink installations, finish defects, etc in customers' homes and businesses, sometimes up to 3 hours away from the shop. This is a highly skilled, technical role. The technician is the face of MGW after the sale, so craftsmanship, judgment, and customer professionalism carry equal weight. When field demand allows, the role may support installation crews, in-shop repairs, and custom fabrication projects both in the shop and in the field. Key Responsibilities Field Warranty and Service (primary, roughly 75-85% of time) Travel to residential and commercial job sites in a company vehicle, up to 3 hours one way, to complete warranty and service calls.
Inspect and diagnose stone issues:
chips, cracks, fissures, seam failures, lippage, separation from cabinets or walls, loose or failed undermount sinks, stains, etching, and dull or uneven finishes. Determine root cause (material flaw, fabrication or install error, cabinet/substrate movement, or customer damage) and document whether the issue is covered under warranty. Perform repairs on granite, marble, quartzite, engineered quartz, and porcelain/sintered stone: color-matched chip and crack fills, seam re-cuts and re-joins, sink reattachment, edge repair, polishing and honing, and re-sealing. Re-level, shim, or re-secure tops where needed; reset or adjust faucets, cooktops, and other fixtures affected by the repair. Know when a field repair will not meet MGW's standard and recommend a remake or shop repair, with photos and measurements. Explain findings, repair options, and care instructions to customers clearly and professionally; manage expectations on what a repair will and will not look like. Maintain vehicle tool and supply inventory. Load the vehicle with the right materials, adhesives, colorants, and tools to minimize return trips. Installation Support (as assigned) Assist or lead installation crews on complex, high-value, or problem jobs. Perform on-site seaming, leveling, cutouts, and adjustments to industry and MGW standards. In-Shop Repairs and Custom Fabrication (as assigned) Repair pieces in the shop, including repairing material defects. Build custom and specialty pieces such as complex edge profiles, mitered/waterfall edges, inlays, vanities, and one-off projects requiring hand fabrication skill. Documentation and Quality Log every call in MGW's service and job-tracking systems: before/after photos, cause, work performed, materials used, time on site, and customer sign-off. Report recurring defects back to fabrication, templating, and install teams so root causes get fixed upstream. Maintain the company vehicle, tools, and inventory of repair materials; report maintenance needs promptly. Leadership Serve as the go-to technical resource for repair and fabrication questions across the shop and install crews. Train and mentor junior technicians and installers on repair techniques and quality standards. Follow and model all safety requirements, including silica dust controls, PPE, safe lifting, and safe driving.
