Job Description
Commercial Wood Framer / Carpenter Herron Construction, Inc. is seeking experienced Wood Framers/Carpenters to join our field crews on commercial construction projects throughout Southern California. Herron Construction has more than 30 years of commercial framing experience and specializes in large-scale retail, commercial, industrial, school, public works, and related construction projects. Our work includes complete retail centers, interior and exterior wall framing, roof framing, panelized roof structures, structural wood framing, blocking, backing, sheathing, finish carpentry, and complete framing packages from rough framing through finish. We are looking for dependable, experienced framers who take pride in their work, understand commercial construction, and can work efficiently as part of a production-oriented framing crew. Responsibilities Successful candidates may perform a variety of commercial wood framing work, including: Layout and construction of wood-framed walls, partitions, soffits, parapets, and related assemblies Interior and exterior wall framing Roof framing and installation of roof framing components Installation of blocking, backing, nailers, headers, beams, posts, and miscellaneous framing Installation of plywood, OSB, structural sheathing, and related materials Reading and working from construction drawings, details, dimensions, and field layout Measuring, cutting, assembling, and fastening lumber and engineered wood products Installation of framing hardware, connectors, anchors, straps, hold-downs, and related components Use of saws, nail guns, drills, impact drivers, levels, lasers, and other standard carpentry tools Coordination with foremen and other trades to maintain production and jobsite sequencing Maintaining a clean and safe work area Following company and project-specific safety requirements at all times Qualifications Commercial framing experience is strongly preferred. Applicants should be able to accurately measure, cut, and assemble framing materials and should be familiar with standard wood-framing practices and construction terminology. Ideal candidates will have experience with some or all of the following: Commercial wood framing Wall and roof framing Structural framing Plywood and OSB sheathing Engineered lumber and structural wood components Framing hardware and connectors Commercial construction plans and details Layout and use of lasers and levels Power tools and pneumatic framing equipment Candidates must be dependable, punctual, able to follow direction, and capable of working productively as part of a crew. Applicants must also be able to perform the physical requirements of construction work, including lifting and carrying framing materials, climbing ladders, working from elevated locations, and working outdoors in typical Southern California jobsite conditions.
