Job Description
SoHo Construction Company is a residential construction firm specializing in custom homes, remodels, additions, and ADUs throughout San Diego County. We take pride in delivering high-quality craftsmanship, thoughtful design, and an exceptional client experience. We are seeking a skilled and dependable Carpenter to join our construction team. The ideal candidate is a hands-on professional who takes ownership of their work, understands the importance of quality and efficiency, and enjoys working collaboratively to bring residential projects to life. Key ResponsibilitiesCarpentry & Project Execution Perform a variety of residential carpentry tasks, including framing, finish carpentry, flooring, formwork, and general construction. Read and interpret architectural plans, construction drawings, specifications, and sketches. Measure, cut, shape, and assemble materials accurately using hand and power tools. Install and repair structural and finish components in accordance with project requirements. Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, subcontractors, and other team members to maintain project schedules. Identify field conditions, discrepancies, or potential construction issues and communicate them promptly to the project team. Assist with material planning, organization, and efficient use of job-site resources. Quality & Craftsmanship Deliver work that meets SoHo Construction's standards for quality, precision, and attention to detail. Inspect completed work for proper installation, structural integrity, and finished appearance. Maintain a clean, organized, and professional job site. Take responsibility for correcting deficiencies and completing assigned work to a high standard. Protect existing finishes, materials, and surrounding areas, particularly during occupied-home remodels. Safety & Teamwork Follow all applicable safety regulations, company procedures, and job-site requirements. Use tools, ladders, scaffolding, and equipment safely and properly. Maintain a safe working environment and promptly report unsafe conditions. Participate in safety meetings and toolbox talks as required. Work respectfully and professionally with coworkers, subcontractors, clients, and neighboring property owners. Support and mentor less-experienced team members when appropriate. Qualifications Proven experience as a carpenter in residential construction. Strong knowledge of framing, finish carpentry, construction methods, and installation techniques. Ability to read and understand construction plans and technical documents. Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and measuring equipment. Ability to work independently while coordinating effectively with a project team. Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and commitment to quality. Reliable transportation and ability to travel to job sites throughout San Diego County. Ability to perform the physical requirements of construction work, including lifting, carrying, climbing, and working in varying job-site conditions. Preferred Qualifications Experience with custom homes, high-end remodels, additions, and ADUs. Experience in both rough and finish carpentry. Familiarity with California residential construction practices and building codes. Experience coordinating with subcontractors or mentoring other carpenters. Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
