Job Description
Carpenter Commercial New Builds Overview We are currently seeking experienced Commercial Carpenters to join our team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in commercial construction, including metal stud framing and acoustical ceiling installation, and will take pride in delivering quality workmanship on fast-paced job sites. The typical scheduled is 7AM-3:30PM with potential overtime. These positions will interview and are expected to start within the same week. Responsibilities Construct, install, and repair commercial structures using wood, metal stud framing, drywall, and other materials Install and modify acoustical ceiling systems (ACT/drop ceilings) Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and layout specifications Perform framing, drywall hanging, finishing, doors, hardware, and trim work Measure, cut, and assemble materials accurately Safely operate hand and power tools Follow OSHA standards and all job-site safety requirements Work independently or as part of a crew to meet project deadlines Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment Qualifications Previous commercial carpentry experience required Proven experience with metal stud framing and acoustical ceilings Ability to read blueprints and take accurate measurements Strong working knowledge of carpentry tools and construction methods Basic math skills and attention to detail Reliable transportation and consistent attendance Ability to lift 50+ lbs and perform physically demanding work OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 preferred but not required Work Environment This is a field-based role on active commercial construction sites, including ground-up projects and interior fit-outs such as day care facilities in locations like Bannockburn, La Grange, and St. Charles. You will typically work with 1-2 other carpenters under the direction of a foreman, with crew size varying based on project scope. Standard hours are generally 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with some variation depending on construction schedules and project deadlines. The dress code includes jeans, a t-shirt, and safety boots, with additional personal protective equipment used as required on site. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Elgin, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $45.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
