Job Title:
Commercial Carpenter Job Description This role involves working on a wide range of commercial carpentry projects across the Chicagoland suburbs, including areas up to Wisconsin, west to DeKalb, and south to I-80. You will focus on commercial metal stud framing, drywall installation, acoustic ceilings, and related interior systems on both new construction and remodeling projects. Project assignments are scheduled as closely as possible to your home location to reduce commute time while ensuring steady, long-term work with a growing company. Responsibilities Perform commercial carpentry work on a variety of projects in suburban Chicagoland, including areas up to Wisconsin, west to DeKalb, and south to I-80. Complete metal stud framing for walls, partitions, and other structural elements in commercial buildings. Install drywall, including hanging, fastening, and preparing surfaces for finishing. Install acoustic ceiling systems, including grid and tile, according to specifications and plans. Use personal hand tools and power tools safely and efficiently to complete daily tasks. Read and follow basic instructions, layouts, and directions from supervisors or project leads to ensure work meets project requirements. Assist with interior build-outs and finish carpentry tasks as needed, depending on experience. Work on both new construction and remodel projects, adapting methods and approaches to suit existing conditions. Maintain a clean and organized work area and handle tools and materials responsibly. Follow all safety procedures and site rules while working indoors and outdoors in various construction environments. Essential Skills Proven commercial carpentry experience. Hands-on experience with metal stud framing in commercial settings. Ability to install acoustic ceilings in commercial environments. Ability to hang and install drywall using appropriate tools and techniques. Ownership and regular use of personal carpentry hand tools and basic power tools. Capability to work on diverse commercial projects in multiple suburban locations. Additional Skills & Qualifications Finish carpentry experience in commercial or residential settings. Residential carpentry experience that complements commercial skills. Well-rounded carpentry across framing, drywall, ceilings, and finishing tasks. Projects are located throughout the Chicagoland suburbs and surrounding areas, including up to Wisconsin, west to DeKalb, and south to I-80. Site conditions will vary by project, and you can expect typical construction-site environments with active trades, changing weather conditions for outdoor work, and adherence to safety practices and appropriate work attire. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Elgin, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
