Experienced Residential Carpenter - Remodeling Greater Portland, Maine $30-$38/hour | Full-Time | Year-Round | 40-50 Hours/Week Come Help Us Build the Kind of Contracting Company People Wish They Could Hire Innovation Painting and Remodeling is looking for experienced residential carpenters to join our Southern Maine remodeling team. We operate established teams across Southern, Mid-Coast, and Northern Maine, and we've built our company around a pretty simple standard: Do what you say you're going to do. Communicate. Show up professionally. Keep a clean jobsite. Take pride in the work. And treat the customer's home like it matters. Too many homeowners have had bad experiences with contractors. We want to be the company that restores their faith in contractors — and we want to work with tradespeople who take pride in being part of that. What You Get $30-$38/hour, depending on experience, technical breadth, and ability to work independently Additional compensation/benefits package available Steady, year-round work Approximately 40 hours per week Paid time off Company-provided major tools and equipment Paid training and professional development Varied residential projects A professional, organized company behind you Real opportunity to advance as the company grows This Is Real Remodeling Work This isn't production carpentry, and we're not looking for someone whose experience is limited to one narrow part of the trade. We're looking for a well-rounded carpenter who knows how to think through existing homes. Sometimes you'll replace a few rotten trim boards. Other times you'll open up a wall and find damaged sheathing, rotten framing, water intrusion, or years of bad repairs underneath. We want someone who can look at that situation, understand what they're seeing, and help figure out the right way to rebuild it — not someone who needs every step laid out for them. During exterior season, our work includes: Rot and water-damage repair Siding and exterior trim Windows and doors Sheathing and framing repairs Decks and porches Rebuilding damaged exterior assemblies correctly During the colder months, we transition heavily into interior remodeling. Projects range from smaller room renovations to complete multi-week bathroom remodels involving: Demo and framing Correcting and leveling existing framing Subfloor repair and replacement Drywall Doors and finish carpentry Flooring Cabinets and vanities Tile floors Custom showers and waterproofing Finish installation Licensed plumbing and electrical work is subcontracted. If you like variety, problem-solving, and seeing a project come together from rough construction through finish work , you'll probably enjoy this position. What We're Looking For This is not an entry-level helper position. We're looking for carpenters who already have solid residential construction experience and can contribute productively from day one. You'll work as part of a small carpentry crew under a Lead Carpenter/Foreman, but we expect you to be capable of taking responsibility for a portion of the project and getting it done without constant supervision. We're looking for experience across several areas of residential construction, such as: Framing Finish carpentry Exterior siding and trim Rot repair Windows and doors Subfloor and flooring work Bathroom remodeling Tile and waterproofing Deck and porch construction You do not need to be the best at every trade. What matters more is having strong fundamentals, good mechanical ability, and enough experience to recognize when something isn't right and work through the problem intelligently. The Person Matters Just as Much as the Carpenter Technical ability matters, but so does how you represent yourself and the company. We're looking for someone who: Shows up reliably and on time Takes real pride in their workmanship Communicates when something isn't going according to plan Works well as part of a crew Can work independently when given responsibility Keeps a clean and organized jobsite Treats customers and coworkers with respect Doesn't hide mistakes or cover up problems Cares about doing the job correctly, not just getting it done Has a valid driver's license and reliable transportation No drama. No disappearing. No cutting corners. We're looking for good people who happen to be good carpenters. A Real Opportunity to Grow Innovation Painting and Remodeling is growing, and we're looking for people who want to grow with us. If you prove yourself as a strong carpenter, take ownership of your work, communicate well, solve problems, and show that you're capable of more responsibility, we want to give you the opportunity to step up. As our remodeling operation grows, we expect opportunities for Senior Carpenter positions, Lead Carpenter / Foreman roles, greater project responsibility, crew leadership, and continued advancement. We want the people who help us build this operation to have the opportunity to advance with it — and increase their earning potential as their skills, responsibility, and value grow. At the same time, being an excellent tradesperson is valuable in its own right. Whether your goal is to become one of our strongest carpenters or eventually lead projects and people, we want there to be a career path for you here. Why Innovation Painting and Remodeling? We're building a company that great customers want to hire and great tradespeople want to work for. We provide the project pipeline, organization, major tools and equipment, field leadership, and administrative support. You get to focus on doing excellent work, developing your skills, and taking on more as you're ready for it.
Our standard is straightforward:
Show up. Communicate. Respect the customer. Take care of your team. Keep the job clean. Solve problems. And build things correctly. We want our customers to be proud they hired Innovation Painting and Remodeling , and we want our employees to be proud to say they work here. If you're an experienced, well-rounded residential carpenter looking for strong compensation, steady year-round work, interesting projects, room to grow, and a professional company that cares about doing things the right way , we'd like to talk.
