Residential Construction Carpenter Amber Valley Construction Grand Rapids, MI Job Details Full-time $22 - $26 an hour 6 hours ago Benefits Flexible spending account Paid time off Tools provided Qualifications Measuring tapes Power tools for woodworking Construction molding Wall framing Full Job Description Position Summary We're hiring a carpenter with real, hands-on residential construction skills. This is not a laborer position and not a lead role. You need to be competent enough to complete basic tasks on your own, stay productive when left alone for a day, and support skilled carpenters on more complex work. Speed is less important than doing it correctly. Responsibilities You will assist with and independently perform portions of residential construction projects, including: Residential Remodel Framing Install interior and exterior trim (base, casing, simple built-ins) Assist with and perform window and door installations Framing support for additions and remodels (walls, blocking, minor structural work under direction) Cabinet installation assistance and basic installs Demo, prep, and jobsite setup/cleanup Material handling, layout, and measuring Punch-list and repair work Follow plans, directions, and scopes of work Maintain a clean, safe jobsite Required Skills & Experience 1-3+ years of residential construction experience Can complete basic tasks independently with minimal supervision Competent with common hand and power tools Understands basic framing, trim, and installation principles Can read a tape measure accurately and follow layouts Knows when to ask questions instead of guessing Able to stay productive when working alone, even if working at a slower pace Reliable transportation and consistent attendance What This Role Is NOT Not a foreman or crew lead Not responsible for running jobs or managing others Not expected to work completely independently on complex scopes Not an entry-level "no experience" position Work Environment Residential remodels and additions Indoor and outdoor work in varying conditions Lifting, climbing, kneeling, and standing required Full-time, weekday schedule with occasional longer days depending on project needs Preferred (Not Required) Trim or finish carpentry experience Window and door install experience Siding or exterior repair experience Familiarity with remodeling (not just new construction) Expectations Show up on time Follow direction Do clean, professional work Take responsibility for the tasks assigned Keep learning and improving skills
