Full-time Overview This opportunity is for an experienced Residential Skilled Carpenter supporting high-end residential remodeling projects across the Greater Grand Rapids and Lakeshore areas. The role focuses on hands-on demolition, framing, prep work, rough and finish carpentry, and daily jobsite execution. The ideal candidate can work independently, identify issues early, communicate clearly with the project manager, and complete high-quality work without constant supervision. This position requires strong residential remodeling experience, practical problem-solving skills, and the ability to work effectively within existing homes and active construction environments. Benefits Paid time off, holidays, vacation, and sick leave Annual and year-end bonus opportunities Company vehicle, fuel, and fully equipped work trailer for qualified employees Company vehicles may be driven home Mileage reimbursement for approved work-related travel when a company vehicle is not assigned Company-provided cell phone or phone reimbursement Company technology may be provided for jobsite communication, documentation, photos, and project management software Company provides larger tools and job-specific equipment Company may replace tools damaged or worn out during heavy job-related use Opportunity to grow with a company expanding its field, production, and leadership structure Qualifications Minimum 3+ years of verifiable hands-on experience in high-end residential remodeling or custom home construction Strong residential remodeling carpentry and framing experience Experience working in remodeling environments, not only new construction Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, shop drawings, scopes of work, and design documents Ability to troubleshoot issues and make practical field decisions Working knowledge of demolition, framing, layout, finish carpentry, doors, windows, trim, cabinets, drywall, fixture installation, and general remodeling practices Advanced proficiency with hand tools and power tools Strong jobsite awareness and ability to think ahead Ability to document work through photos, notes, and project management tools Comfortable using BuilderTrend or willing to learn Strong communication skills with project managers, field staff, subcontractors, and clients Ability to work independently without constant supervision Own hand tools required Valid driver's license and reliable transportation Ability to safely tow trailers, maneuver equipment, and back trailers into tight spaces Ability to lift and move 50-75+ pounds regularly Ability to climb ladders and work from heights Ability to work in tight spaces, active residential jobsites, and varying weather conditions Key Responsibilities Perform and lead hands-on residential remodeling work Support demolition, framing, structural prep, and selected finish scopes Perform rough and finish carpentry, including trim, cabinetry, drywall, fixture installations, and other remodeling tasks Direct daily jobsite operations for assigned projects Execute carpentry work to exact design specifications Identify jobsite, design, layout, and constructability issues early Communicate issues and solutions to the project manager Document site conditions, progress, issues, and completed work Take daily site photos and enter job notes Log to-dos and communicate anything affecting schedule, scope, trades, materials, or project flow Inspect completed work and correct deficiencies when necessary Manage jobsite materials and track inventory Assist project managers with schedules and preventing budget overruns Maintain a clean, organized, and professional jobsite Support demo, framing, finish prep, doors, windows, trim, cabinets, punch list work, and general remodeling tasks Help ensure projects are well-prepared, well-framed, and ready for subcontractors Lead by example and help train less experienced team members when needed Apply today to be considered for this Residential Skilled Carpenter opportunity and bring your residential remodeling and carpentry experience to high-end projects across West Michigan.
