$38-$42/hour, based on experience Full-time, year-round work 80 hours paid time off 6 paid holidays Vehicle/fuel reimbursement Production bonus opportunity Opportunity to grow into Field Trainer, Project Manager, Sales/Design, or Production Leadership We are looking for an experienced residential carpenter who is really good at what they do, takes pride in their work, and wants more opportunity than simply being a carpenter forever. Personal Pride has been building in the Twin Cities for more than 20 years. We are increasingly focused on high-quality decks and porches, and we are building an employee field team that can become an important part of where this company goes next. This position is for someone who has already spent years in residential construction. You understand how a project comes together, know how to solve problems in the field, and don't need someone standing over your shoulder telling you what to do next. But craftsmanship is only part of what we are looking for. The kind of person we want Our customers are trusting us with a major investment in their home. How they are treated throughout the project matters just as much as the finished deck or porch. We are looking for someone who: Takes real pride in building things correctly and making the finished product look great Is friendly, professional and comfortable communicating with homeowners Understands that keeping a customer informed is part of doing a great job Keeps a clean, organized and professional jobsite Treats the customer's home and property with respect Notices problems and takes ownership of solving them Is dependable and does what they say they are going to do Wants feedback and is committed to continually getting better Is willing to learn how we build projects, even if you have been doing this for a long time Can help create a positive experience for the other people working around them Eventually wants to help lead, teach and develop other builders We care a lot about customer experience. A beautiful deck with a miserable construction experience is not a successful project. What you'll be doing You will initially work as part of a small deck and porch crew, typically alongside one other carpenter. Your responsibilities will include building and remodeling decks and porches from framing through completion, maintaining our construction and quality standards, keeping the project organized and clean, communicating professionally with customers, documenting progress with photos and daily JobTread logs, identifying issues before they become bigger problems, and helping us continually improve how our field team operates. We expect our Lead Carpenter to take ownership of the jobsite, not simply complete assigned tasks. That means looking ahead, thinking through the next phase of the project, making sure materials are organized, maintaining quality throughout the build, and making sure the homeowner feels comfortable with what is happening at their home. This does not have to be your forever role If you have been a carpenter for a long time and are starting to wonder, "Is this all there is?" , I want you to pay attention to this part. We are not building an employee crew because we just need another set of hands. We want to develop people. For the right person, Lead Carpenter could eventually become: Field Trainer / Crew Leader Help train new employees and subcontractor crews in how we build projects and take care of customers. Project Manager Manage multiple deck and porch projects, customers, crews, schedules and quality. Sales & Design Use your construction knowledge to help homeowners design projects and understand what is possible. Production Leadership Help us develop field standards, crews, training systems and eventually oversee a larger production team. Or you may decide that you love building and want to remain one of the best craftsmen in the company. There should be a path for that too. There is no automatic promotion and no predetermined timeline. But if you are capable, want more responsibility and continue developing yourself, we want there to be somewhere for you to go. A few things you should know about us We are particular about how our projects are built and will teach the way we do things. You do not need to arrive knowing every product, detail or process we use. In fact, we expect experienced carpenters to come in with different ways of doing things. What matters is being experienced enough to contribute immediately while still being humble enough to learn something new. If you've spent years working in residential carpentry and you're looking for a company where your experience can eventually lead to something bigger, we'd like to talk with you. How to apply Email jason@ppcmn.com with a short introduction about yourself and your experience. Please include photos of a few projects you have recently completed. Decks, porches, additions, framing or other detailed residential carpentry work are all helpful. Tell me what part of the work you personally completed and what you're looking for in your next opportunity.
