In this pivotal role, you will oversee residential carpentry projects from start to finish, ensuring high-quality craftsmanship and adherence to safety standards. As a leader on the job site, you will coordinate with team members, interpret construction plans, and deliver exceptional results that meet client expectations. Your expertise in framing, trim work, cabinetry, and restoration will drive project success and customer satisfaction. Responsibilities Lead residential and light commercial carpentry and remodeling projects Work alongside the crew while providing clear instructions, guidance, and daily direction Assign daily tasks based on project priorities and crew members' experience Read and interpret project scopes, blueprints, drawings, plans, and specifications Take accurate measurements and complete cuts, installations, and repairs with precision Perform finish carpentry, framing, drywall installation and repairs, and general remodeling work Install doors, trim, baseboards, crown molding, casing, cabinets, shelving, fixtures, and hardware Safely operate standard hand tools, power tools, woodworking equipment, and other construction equipment Monitor workmanship, productivity, job-site safety, and overall project progress Conduct quality inspections throughout each phase of the project Coordinate daily activities with crew members, subcontractors, project managers, and other trades Communicate material and equipment needs to the appropriate project manager Assist project managers with estimating labor, materials, timelines, and project needs when requested Identify job-site challenges and provide practical, timely solutions Communicate professionally with homeowners, property managers, project managers, and team members Ensure completed work meets project specifications, applicable requirements, and True Coat's quality standards Help keep projects organized, efficient, and on schedule Maintain clean, safe, and professional job sites Properly use, clean, secure, and maintain company tools, equipment, and vehicles Assist with painting, drywall, and other general construction tasks when needed Qualifications and Requirements At least five years of professional carpentry experience Strong finish-carpentry skills and experience with residential remodeling and repairs Previous experience as a Lead Carpenter, Foreman, Crew Leader, or in a similar leadership role preferred Experience leading and supervising carpentry or remodeling crews Ability to lead by example while remaining actively involved in hands-on work Ability to read blueprints, interpret technical drawings, understand project scopes, and take accurate measurements Knowledge of carpentry methods, materials, installation procedures, and job-site safety practices Experience with framing, cabinetry, trim work, door installation, drywall, and general remodeling Proficiency with standard hand tools, power tools, and woodworking equipment Ability to plan daily work, delegate responsibilities, and keep projects moving efficiently Ability to estimate basic labor, material, and scheduling needs Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality craftsmanship Professional communication and customer-service skills Ability to communicate effectively with customers, crew members, subcontractors, and project managers Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team Dependable, punctual, motivated, and available to work a complete schedule Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record Reliable transportation to job sites throughout the St. Louis area Willingness and ability to travel between local job sites Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds Ability to stand, bend, kneel, climb ladders, and perform physical construction work for extended periods Additional consideration may be given to candidates with experience leading small crews, coordinating subcontractors, estimating labor and materials, managing multiple phases of a project, creating custom woodwork, or performing work across finish carpentry, framing, drywall, painting, and remodeling.
