Description Billings School District 2 is seeking Carpenter to perform journeyman level work as a carpenter and hardware maintenance worker as assigned. Starts October 2026. Schedule Full Time; 12-month position; 40 hours per week; Monday - Friday; 700 a.m. to 330 p.m. Salary $28.58 per hour. Full Benefits; Fully Paid Insurance; PERS Retirement. Examples of Duties include but are not limited to Plans, schedules, and selects methods and materials for assigned work. Alters and repairs buildings, sheds, scaffolds, partitions, forms and other structures from blues, plans or sketches. Repairs floors, screens, windows, sashes, doors, furniture, fixtures, stairs, cupboards, roofs, building cabinets, and furniture. Installs and repairs locks, weatherstripping, brackets for mirrors and draperies, linoleum, tile, gutters, and down spouts. Operates variety of power tools such as saws, jointers, lathes, sanders, planners, and boring and mortising machines. Cleans, sharpens, maintains and repairs power and hand tools. Estimates material and time needed toplete jobs. Supervises and instructs helpers. Repairs panic bars, closers, locks, cuts keys and repairs all types of hardware. Performs related work as required. Minimum Qualifications High school graduate or equivalent. Successfulpletion of a four-year carpentry apprenticeship program plus experience as a hardware mechanic or any equivalentbination of education or experience. Thorough knowledge of the practices, principles, methods and equipment used in keying systems, hardware installation and maintenance. Working knowledge of standard practices, methods, materials, safety precautions, tools and equipment of carpentry trade. Ability to work from blues, plans and sketches. Able to estimate materials and time needed toplete jobs. Able to use hand power tools. Able to establish and maintain an effective and efficient keying system.
