Job Summary Harmony Builders is a high-end residential general contractor in Woodstock, NY. We're hiring an experienced Carpenter to perform the full range of rough and finish carpentry on our projects. Working under Project Leads, you will take point on constructing the essential assemblies of residential buildings. We adhere to tight tolerances and build to modern building science standards like Passive House. Carpenters here also guide Helpers and set the standard for quality on site. What You'll Do Construction — Perform all aspects of residential building, interior and exterior, from form work to framing to finish, with precision and efficiency. Advanced carpentry — Execute higher-end work such as roof and stair layout, millwork, and joinery to a high standard with minimal errors. Plan interpretation — Read and interpret civil, structural, and architectural drawings and translate them into actionable steps with minimal supervision after consultation with Leads. Workflow execution — Anticipate multi-day workflows with an eye to labor and materials, keep the work sequenced and moving, and guide Helpers on assigned tasks. Quality and envelope — Maintain craftsmanship standards and execute high-performance and Passive House envelope details correctly. Trade awareness — Understand adjacent trades well enough to support seamless project integration. Material efficiency — Use materials efficiently to minimize waste and control cost; stage and protect completed work. Site readiness — Set up temporary working structures, protect finished work, and keep the work area clean, organized, and safe. Safety — Follow all jobsite safety protocols and consistently use appropriate personal protective equipment. What We're Looking For Demonstrated craftsmanship across both rough and finish carpentry on residential projects. Proficiency reading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications. Working understanding of building science, Passive House standards, safety standards, and local building codes — or the interest and aptitude to learn our envelope details. Advanced measurement, layout, and construction math. Expert use of hand and power tools. Communication and teamwork, with the ability to guide and mentor Helpers. Excellent time management and problem-solving ability, and work that holds design tolerances with minimal rework. Reliability — consistent attendance and punctuality. Commitment to continuous learning and professional development. Physical stamina — able to repeatedly lift and carry up to 50 lbs and work outdoors in varying weather and seasons. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to jobsites.
