We're hiring a General Carpenter / Handyman to handle repairs, maintenance, and improvement work across our commercial and residential units. This is a hands-on, variety-driven role. No two days look the same — you might hang a door in the morning, chase a leak after lunch, and patch drywall before you head home. We're looking for someone who fixes things right the first time and represents the company well when a tenant or property owner is standing right there watching the work. We provide all tools and equipment. You bring reliable transportation. Responsibilities Perform general repair and maintenance work on commercial and residential units — carpentry, drywall, doors and hardware, trim, framing repairs, flooring, and fixtures Handle basic plumbing and electrical repairs within the scope of your experience — fixtures, faucets, toilets, outlets, switches, light fixtures Complete turnover and make-ready work between tenants: patch, paint, repair, and punch-list items Diagnose problems in the field and determine the right fix, escalating larger-scope items to your supervisor Respond to service calls and maintenance requests, keeping tenants and property owners informed of status Read and work from construction plans, drawings, and scopes of work Estimate materials and time for the work in front of you, and order or pick up what's needed Perform preventative maintenance and seasonal upkeep on buildings and grounds Follow safety protocols at all times, including proper power tool and ladder use Maintain a clean, organized work area on every site and keep accurate daily records of work, hours, and materials Assist site crews with excavation, grading, and equipment support as needed Skills Proficient with hand and power tools; solid working knowledge across at least two of: carpentry, drywall finishing, basic plumbing, basic electrical, painting, flooring Strong background in residential and light commercial work — trim carpentry, fixture installation, drywall repair, remodel and turnover work Reliable personal transportation to job sites throughout the Portland metro area Valid driver's license and an insurable driving record Comfortable working independently with minimal daily supervision Strong customer service skills — professional, courteous, and clear with tenants, owners, and property managers Able to lift 50+ lbs, work on ladders and scaffolding, and work outdoors in all weather Legally authorized to work in the United States Skills that are a plus Excavation experience or operator skills — mini excavator, skid steer, backhoe, compact track loader Join us if you're passionate about craftsmanship and eager to contribute your carpentry expertise to a variety of projects!
