Job Description

Even Construction Inc. is a family-owned construction company specializing in floating homes, boathouses, floating foundations, remodels, and marine construction throughout the Portland Metro area and surrounding waterways. We are looking for a dependable, skilled, and hardworking Framer / Carpenter to join our crew. This position offers the opportunity to work on unique construction projects both at our construction facility and on-site at marinas throughout the area. Position Description The Framer / Carpenter will perform residential framing and general carpentry associated with new floating-home construction, remodels, boathouses, decks, and other marine construction projects. The ideal candidate has solid residential framing experience, takes pride in quality workmanship, can work efficiently as part of a crew, and is comfortable working around water and in an active construction environment. Responsibilities Residential wood framing, including floors, walls, roofs, decks, and structural components Read and work from construction plans, measurements, and layouts Measure, cut, assemble, and install dimensional lumber and building materials Install joists, beams, blocking, sheathing, decking, siding, trim, and related components Assist with new floating-home and boathouse construction Assist with remodels, additions, float repairs, and structural improvements Safely operate saws, drills, nail guns, and other standard construction tools Work from boats, docks, barges, floating structures, and construction platforms when required Maintain an organized and safe jobsite Work effectively with supervisors, other carpenters, subcontractors, and crew members Perform additional general construction duties as needed Qualifications Previous framing and/or carpentry experience is strongly preferred . Applicants should have a working knowledge of standard residential construction practices and be comfortable using common carpentry and power tools. Candidates must be dependable, punctual, physically capable of performing construction work, able to lift and carry building materials, and willing to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Experience with residential framing, remodeling, decking, siding, roofing, structural carpentry, or marine construction is a plus. Applicants should have reliable transportation and a valid driver's license. Experience operating boats, construction equipment, forklifts, or other machinery is also beneficial but not required. What We're Looking For We value people who show up, work hard, take pride in their craftsmanship, and want to learn . Floating-home construction is specialized work, so previous marine construction experience is not required. We are willing to teach the floating-home side of the business to someone who already has a strong carpentry foundation and the right attitude. This is a hands-on position with a wide variety of work. Unlike repetitive production framing, our projects regularly involve custom construction, problem-solving, remodeling, structural work, and unique waterfront conditions. Work Environment Work may take place at the Even Construction facility in Warren/St. Helens as well as marinas and floating-home communities throughout the Portland Metro area and surrounding region. Because much of our work takes place on or adjacent to the water, applicants must be comfortable working on docks, floating structures, boats, barges, and other marine environments. Compensation Competitive hourly compensation based on experience, skill level, and capabilities. Opportunities for increased responsibility and compensation are available for employees who demonstrate strong carpentry skills, reliability, leadership, and the ability to work independently. Apply If you are an experienced framer or carpenter looking for something different from traditional residential construction and want to be part of building some of the most unique homes in the Pacific Northwest, we would like to hear from you. Please submit your name, phone number, work experience, and a brief description of your framing/carpentry background to Even Construction Inc.
