Job Description
Overview We are seeking a highly skilled Master Carpenter with specialized training in Japanese carpentry and joinery to join our dynamic construction team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to apply traditional Japanese woodworking techniques within modern residential and restoration projects. The ideal candidate will bring a passion for craftsmanship, precision, and innovation, contributing to high-quality builds that blend artistry with functionality. As a master of your craft, you will lead complex carpentry tasks, mentor junior team members, and ensure all work meets the highest standards of safety and excellence. Duties Execute intricate Japanese carpentry and joinery techniques, including precise cutting, fitting, and assembly of wood components Interpret construction plans, technical drawings, and blueprints to accurately execute project specifications Lead framing, trim carpentry, door hanging, siding installation, and flooring projects with attention to detail and craftsmanship Operate hand tools, power tools for woodworking, woodworking machines, and other equipment safely and effectively Fabricate custom wood components using traditional methods combined with modern tools for restoration or new construction projects Collaborate with project managers and other trades to ensure seamless integration of carpentry work within overall construction plans Maintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to power tool safety protocols and site safety regulations Requirements Proven experience in residential carpentry, framing, remodeling, or restoration industries with a focus on high-quality craftsmanship Extensive training in Japanese carpentry techniques and joinery methods such as mortise-and-tenon joints, intricate wood joinery, and precise fitting Strong knowledge of construction estimating, blueprint reading, interpreting technical drawings, and construction plans Proficiency with hand tools and power tools for woodworking Experience with wood construction materials Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently on various job sites while maintaining attention to detail Excellent communication skills for coordinating with team members and clients during project execution Join us as a Master Carpenter trained in Japanese carpentry & joinery to elevate our projects through exceptional craftsmanship.
