Barn Apartment Build Location:
Brenham, TX, 77833 We're looking for an experience framing carpenter to help with a new build inside an existing barn. The project is starting from a bare concrete slab , so this is mostly straightforward new framing work rather than remodeling existing walls. The space will be approximately 10' wide × 40' long with 10' walls and will eventually include a bedroom, bathroom, kitchen area, living area, hallway, and closets. What You'll Be Working On Framing exterior/perimeter walls Framing interior walls and room layouts Framing door openings Framing openings for two 36" × 36" windows Headers, blocking, king studs, jack studs, etc. Anchoring wall plates to the existing concrete slab Framing an approximately 400 sq. ft. storage loft/platform above the apartment Installing floor joists and plywood/OSB decking Framing stairs leading up to the storage area Basic guardrail/handrail framing where needed Keeping the work area clean and organized The upper platform will be used as a walkable storage area , so experience with floor or loft framing is important. What We're Looking For We're looking for someone who: Has solid residential framing experience Can work independently Knows how to properly lay out walls, doors, and windows Has experience framing floors, lofts, or similar structures Has stair-framing experience Can build everything square, level, and plumb Has reliable transportation Has their own basic framing tools Communicates well and shows up when expected This first phase is mainly rough framing . Drywall, electrical, plumbing, flooring, cabinets, and finish work are not part of the initial job. There may be additional work available after the framing is finished if everything goes well.
