About the Role Maple Creek Contracting is a residential remodeling company specializing in high-end custom projects, including additions, full gut remodels, and custom built-ins. We are seeking an experienced Project Manager / Lead Carpenter who can confidently manage residential remodeling projects from start to finish while remaining hands-on in the field. This position is ideal for an experienced construction professional who understands the entire remodeling process, can coordinate multiple trades, communicate professionally with homeowners, and identify and solve problems before they impact the project. This is not strictly an office-based project management position. The right candidate will be comfortable both running the jobsite and performing skilled carpentry work. Key Responsibilities Project & Jobsite Management Manage residential additions, full gut remodels, and custom built-in projects from start to finish. Read and work from construction plans. Coordinate project schedules, subcontractors, inspections, materials, and jobsite needs. Prepare jobs for inspections, be present when required, and address any necessary corrections. Identify potential problems early and resolve them before they result in delays or unnecessary costs. Trade Coordination & Quality Control Schedule and coordinate trades including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, roofing, framing, masonry, concrete, painting, drywall, insulation, landscaping, and flatwork. Understand the sequencing and requirements of each trade. Inspect completed work for quality before allowing the next phase of the project to begin. Hands-On Carpentry Perform cabinet installation, custom built-ins, trim work, door installation, framing, and roofing as needed. Assist with light electrical and plumbing work within applicable Virginia licensing requirements. Client Communication Maintain professional communication with homeowners throughout the project. Provide clients with updates and answer project-related questions. Document client-requested changes and communicate them to the office before additional work is completed. Provide regular job updates to the owner and office regarding project progress, upcoming stages, and potential concerns. Estimating & Takeoffs Assist with measurements and takeoffs for upcoming projects. Use company templates, walkthrough notes, and 3D scans to help prepare accurate project quantities. Identify items that cannot be accurately measured or verified so they can be accounted for appropriately in estimates. Compare estimated quantities with actual project usage to help improve future estimating accuracy. Qualifications 10+ years of residential construction experience strongly preferred. Significant experience with residential remodeling, including additions, full gut renovations, and custom built-ins. Strong working knowledge of multiple construction trades and the ability to evaluate workmanship and quality. Ability to read and interpret construction plans. Experience coordinating and handling inspections. Experience measuring projects and/or preparing construction takeoffs. Experience with 3D scanning technology such as Matterport is a plus. Strong problem-solving and organizational skills. Clear, professional communication skills. Comfortable interacting directly with homeowners and high-end residential clients. Ability to remain professional and solution-focused in high-pressure situations. Strong work ethic and ability to take ownership of projects. Ability to build positive working relationships with clients, subcontractors, and crew members. Requirements Candidates must have a current driver's license, reliable truck for commuting and material runs, and basic tools required for the position. Compensation $30.00-$35.00 per hour , based on experience, plus mileage reimbursement.
