288373551 Job Description As a carpenter, you will perform constructing, repairing, and installing wooden structures, frameworks, and fixtures. The role is hands-on, entry-level, and focused on learning the trade through practical experience and guidance.
Key Responsibilities:
Carpentry Tasks:
Demolition, framing, siding, roofing, flooring, drywall installation, decking and all facets of finish carpentry.
Tool and Material Handling:
Prepare and maintain tools, equipment, and materials; ensure job sites are clean and organized.
Read Blueprints:
Learn to interpret basic blueprints, schematics, or instructions under supervision.
Safety Compliance:
Follow safety protocols, wear protective gear, and maintain a safe work environment. Employer will provide all OSHA approved safety equipment required.
Learn Techniques:
Gain skills in using hand tools (e.g., saws, hammers) and power tools (e.g., drills, sanders) while developing precision and craftsmanship. Attention to detail is extremely important.
Site Preparation:
Overall daily jobsite cleanliness, help set up scaffolding, ladders, and other equipment as needed.
Requirements:
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
1 year minimum of general construction experience is required. Driver's license and own vehicle are required for transportation when needed. Basic hand tools. Recreational drugs and smoking are prohibited.
Physical Fitness:
Ability to lift heavy materials, stand for long periods, and work in various weather conditions.
Skills:
Basic problem-solving, eagerness to learn, and good hand-eye coordination.
Soft Skills:
Strong work ethic, teamwork, and willingness to take direction from mentors.
Work Environment:
Location:
Job sites vary (e.g., residential, commercial, or industrial settings); may involve outdoor or confined spaces.
Hours:
Full-time, often with early starts; overtime possible during project deadlines.
Travel:
Some jobs require travel to different sites. Most jobsites are within a 20 mile radius
Training and Growth:
Carpenters typically work under a journeyman carpenter for 2-4 years, combining on-the-job training with classroom instruction when necessary. Learn advanced skills like formwork, finish carpentry, or specialized techniques. Opportunity to become a journeyman carpenter or supervisor with greater benefits.
