Commercial Diver - Underwater Pipe Installation Central Civil Construction South Florida | Full-Time | In-Person / Field Position Join Central Civil's Heavy Civil Construction Team Central Civil Construction is seeking an experienced Commercial Diver - Underwater Pipe Installation to support heavy civil and marine construction operations throughout South Florida. Since 1977, Central Civil has successfully completed challenging heavy civil and infrastructure projects throughout South Florida, including underground utilities, earthwork, roadway improvements, airports, seaports, commercial developments, and public infrastructure. We are looking for a safety-focused commercial diver with experience performing underwater construction and pipe installation activities in challenging field environments. This is a hands-on field position requiring strong construction knowledge, commercial diving experience, attention to safety, and the ability to work effectively with pipe crews, equipment operators, supervisors, and other members of the project team. Primary Responsibilities Perform commercial diving operations in support of underwater pipe installation and heavy civil construction . Assist with the installation, positioning, alignment, connection, inspection, and repair of underwater piping and related infrastructure. Guide and position pipe, fittings, structures, and other construction materials underwater. Assist crews with underwater connections and installation activities. Perform underwater inspections to verify pipe alignment, connections, elevations, and general installation conditions. Communicate continuously with surface personnel during diving operations. Work closely with Pipe Foremen, Superintendents, crane and equipment operators, and other field personnel during installation activities. Assist with rigging and handling pipe, materials, tools, and equipment used during underwater operations. Inspect diving equipment before and after use and immediately report defects or unsafe conditions. Follow established dive plans, emergency procedures, and company safety requirements. Participate in pre-dive safety meetings, Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), and toolbox talks. Maintain awareness of changing underwater and jobsite conditions. Perform underwater construction tasks using appropriate hand and power tools. Assist with measurements, documentation, photographs, and verification of completed underwater work when required. Maintain diving equipment, tools, and work areas in safe operating condition. Perform additional marine, utility, and heavy civil construction duties as required. Required Qualifications Previous commercial diving experience required. Experience with underwater construction, pipe installation, marine construction, utilities, or similar work strongly preferred. Commercial diving training from a recognized commercial diving program. Current certifications and documentation required to perform commercial diving work. Knowledge of commercial diving procedures, equipment, communications, and emergency protocols. Knowledge of construction rigging and safe material-handling practices. Ability to safely work around cranes, excavators, barges, pumps, pipelines, and other heavy construction equipment. Ability to understand and follow dive plans, safety procedures, construction plans, and supervisor instructions. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Ability to work in limited-visibility and physically demanding underwater environments. Ability to work outdoors in South Florida weather and changing field conditions. Must be able to meet the physical and medical requirements applicable to commercial diving operations. Valid driver's license preferred. Reliable transportation to assigned project locations.
