Job Description

The Position The Estimator will be responsible for the accurate and timely preparation of estimates for jobs to be bid and should have extensive knowledge of construction means and methods, costs and engineering and industry principles. The candidate will also have an innovative and client focus approach and will work well as part of the project team.
Specific duties:
Reviews Request for Proposal (RFP) specifications and drawings, attend pre-bid meetings (if applicable) and/or site visits to determine the scope of work and required contents of estimate Uses standardized tools and processes to prepare accurate, competitive, and timely estimates of project cost and durations. Complete take-offs to calculate estimate quantities using software such as Bluebeam Gathers details and maintains current market data necessary to accurately estimate construction, material and soft costs associated with project construction. Familiarity with standard construction industry concepts, practices Ability to drive innovation of new processes while supporting corporate standards for quality Thoroughly reviews estimate scope and pricing with CEO prior to client submission Schedules job handoff meeting with field leadership, prepares submittals, prepares budget Comfortable operating in a team environment working with third party customers, Developers, Design Engineers, General Construction Estimators, Pre-Construction Managers, and Construction Managers on a regular basis. Is proactive in maintaining and updating knowledge of state and local municipality specifications Maintains current information on unit pricing from supplies and subcontractors Assists with job costing meetings Drives the pipeline goals by participating in sales/ bidding strategy, drives new leads, follows up on submitted bids Other duties as assigned by management Required Qualifications Degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related experience or
CCP / CEP
Certification in lieu of degree Minimum 5 years experience in an estimating role with projects that include at least some of the following: Concrete flatwork, asphalt, sitework and finish grading, demolition & environmental, overlot grading, wet utilities Minimum 3 years of civil and concrete experience (field or office related) Ability to do moderate math equations, understand financial concepts, and interpret computerized cost data and systems, engineering drawings, purchase orders, contracts, and other construction documents Proficiency using Word, Excel, Outlook and Microsoft Project. Must be able to build models in excel Ability to perform takeoffs using software such as Bluebeam Excellent verbal and written communication (English), organizational, grammatical, and prioritization/time-management skills, with the ability to make sound decisions under tight deadlines Ability to multitask and effectively prioritize work requests Must be a self starter and be self motivated Performs other duties as assigned Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of B2
