Entry-Level Estimator - Precast Concrete Gillespie Precast is seeking an Entry-Level Estimator to join our growing team in Chestertown, Maryland. In this role, you will support the estimating and sales process by reviewing construction plans, performing quantity takeoffs, preparing cost estimates, and assisting with bid proposals for precast concrete projects. This position offers an excellent opportunity for recent graduates or early-career professionals to develop technical, construction, and estimating skills while working alongside experienced estimators, engineers, and sales professionals. Key Responsibilities:
Review project plans, specifications, and bid documents. Perform quantity takeoffs and assist in preparing cost estimates. Support the development of project quotations and bid proposals. Maintain bid opportunity tracking and estimating records. Communicate with contractors, engineers, architects, and internal teams to gather project information. Assist in evaluating project scope, materials, labor, and production requirements. Learn precast concrete products, applications, and manufacturing processes. Coordinate with sales, engineering, production, and scheduling teams to ensure accurate estimate development. Support proposal preparation and submission activities. Assist with administrative and operational duties related to estimating and sales support. Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
Required Qualifications:
Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills. Excellent organizational and time-management abilities. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and construction documents. High attention to detail and accuracy. Self-motivated with a willingness to learn. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Preferred Qualifications:
0-2 years of experience in construction, estimating, manufacturing, engineering, or a related field. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Engineering Technology, Business, or a related field, OR equivalent construction industry experience. Internship or coursework related to construction, civil engineering, drafting, or estimating. Familiarity with AutoCAD or other drafting software. Basic understanding of construction plans and specifications. Interest in infrastructure, precast concrete, or construction materials.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to travel to/from office to customer/jobsite/office Ability to climb in and around concrete structures, as needed
Schedule:
Full-time position with standard business hours, 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM Occasional after-hours or weekend work may be required
Compensation & Benefits Salary:
