Job Summary This is a skilled position requiring a thorough understanding of the ready mix concrete business. The batchman controls the process to produce concrete from raw ingredients and additives according to predetermined specifications using computer batching software. We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Temporary Concrete Batchman to join our team in Defiance, Ohio for a fixed-term assignment from June 1, 2026, through November 30, 2026. In this role, you will be responsible for operating batching equipment to produce high-quality concrete, ensuring accurate mixture proportion. Responsibilities Operate concrete batching equipment and mixers to produce consistent concrete mixes according to project specifications Measure and load raw materials such as cement, aggregates, and additives accurately into the mixer Conduct routine inspections of batching machinery, forklifts, and other heavy equipment to ensure proper functioning Maintain cleanliness and organization of the warehouse and batching area to promote safety and efficiency Follow all safety protocols, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to OSHA standards Collaborate with team members to coordinate material deliveries and ensure timely production schedules Requirements Must be able to produce concrete products to required specifications. Thorough working knowledge of computer/batching system. Verify each load for yardage, mix, added products and all other quality information. Operate equipment safely and efficiently. Receive and inspect raw materials. Keep required records and logs. Monitor inventories in the plant. (cement, admixtures)
