Job Overview We are seeking a customer service-oriented Central Dispatcher to coordinate deliveries and support the daily operations of our dispatch office in Middlebury, VT. This position is well suited to someone who communicates clearly, stays organized, and enjoys finding practical solutions as priorities change. The dispatcher serves as a primary contact for customers, taking accurate orders and providing professional, responsive service. Success in this role also requires the ability to give drivers clear direction, set expectations, and be firm and respectful when needed to keep deliveries safe, efficient, and on schedule. Key Responsibilities Receive and schedule customer orders for ready-mix concrete, aggregates, concrete pumps, and related products. Answer basic pricing and product questions, confirm delivery details, and keep customers informed of schedule changes. Coordinate trucks, drivers, and delivery schedules, including tractor-trailers and precast loads. Work with plant personnel, job sites, and erection crews to meet delivery needs and resolve scheduling issues. Arrange independent drivers as needed and coordinate cement deliveries to ready-mix plants. Track driver hours, code timecards, and help maintain required vehicle registrations and permits. Support driver compliance with company policies and Federal Motor Carrier requirements. Assist with concrete batching, aggregate scales, and other operational needs in coordination with the Operations Manager. Qualifications Strong customer service, communication, and computer skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond calmly to changes throughout the day. A practical approach to problem solving and confidence in directing drivers. Dispatch or related industry experience preferred. Schedule and Benefits Full-time position with hours based on operational needs, including some Saturdays and occasional after-hours assistance with delivery issues. A company cell phone is provided.
