Position Summary The Traveling HVAC Superintendent is responsible for overseeing HVAC field operations for new multifamily construction projects throughout Georgia, Tennessee, and Kentucky. This position provides hands-on leadership to field crews and subcontractors while ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and according to project plans, specifications, and quality standards. The Superintendent works closely with Project Managers, General Contractors, subcontractors, and internal teams to coordinate daily field activities, manage manpower, monitor productivity, resolve issues, and maintain project progress. Key ResponsibilitiesField Operations Supervise daily HVAC installation activities on new multifamily construction projects. Provide direction and leadership to field crews and subcontractors. Monitor manpower, productivity, materials, equipment, and project progress. Conduct regular job-site visits to oversee daily execution and resolve field issues. Ensure HVAC work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to project schedules. Coordinate HVAC activities with General Contractors, subcontractors, and other trades. Project Coordination Partner with Project Managers to support successful project execution. Review and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, specifications, and installation requirements. Utilize construction software such as Procore, Bluebeam, and eSUB to track progress and coordinate project activities. Identify and communicate field conditions, scope issues, and potential delays. Assist with change orders and field changes as needed. Communicate project status, manpower needs, material requirements, and field issues to the appropriate team members. Team Leadership & Productivity Lead, coach, and support HVAC field personnel. Plan and coordinate manpower to meet project schedules. Monitor crew productivity and address issues that may impact project performance. Promote accountability, teamwork, quality, and professionalism. Help develop skilled HVAC personnel and future field leaders. Quality & Safety Ensure HVAC installations meet project plans, specifications, codes, and quality standards. Monitor installation quality and address deficiencies promptly. Apply knowledge of duct layout, airflow impact, HVAC startup procedures, and troubleshooting. Ensure adherence to OSHA requirements and J.R. Hobbs safety policies. Participate in job-site safety meetings, inspections, and quality-control activities. Contractor & Customer Relations Maintain professional relationships with General Contractors, subcontractors, customers, and internal stakeholders. Communicate effectively regarding project progress, concerns, and field conditions. Work collaboratively to resolve issues and keep projects moving forward. Represent J.R. Hobbs professionally on all job sites. Qualifications Proven experience as an HVAC Superintendent, HVAC Supervisor, or similar field leadership role in ground-up construction. Strong background in multifamily or large-scale residential/commercial HVAC projects. Hands-on HVAC installation experience, including sheet metal, duct board, flex systems, and related HVAC equipment. Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, specifications, and installation manuals. Experience managing field crews and subcontractors. Strong understanding of HVAC installation, duct layout, airflow, startup procedures, and troubleshooting. Experience coordinating with General Contractors and other trades. Familiarity with Procore, Bluebeam, eSUB, or similar construction software. Strong communication, organizational, leadership, and problem-solving skills. Strong customer service and interpersonal skills. Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus. Valid driver's license required. Self-starter with a high degree of reliability, accountability, and follow-through. Travel Requirements Travel throughout Georgia, Tennessee, and Kentucky is required. Travel is primarily day travel to assigned job sites. No overnight travel is required. Must be willing and able to travel between active job sites based on project needs.
