Construction Foreman - Hardscape & Excavation Rubin Landscape is seeking an experienced Construction Foreman to lead a two- to four-person crew completing residential landscape construction projects throughout the North Shore. Our projects include patios, walkways, granite steps, retaining walls, drainage systems, grading, excavation, driveway preparation, lawn installation, and planting. This is a working foreman position for someone who can manage a job from start to finish while maintaining quality, productivity, and a professional jobsite.
Responsibilities:
Lead and work alongside a landscape construction crew Review project plans and organize daily work Communicate material, equipment, and labor needs Operate excavators, skid steers, compactors, saws, and other equipment Establish grades, elevations, drainage pitch, and finished layouts Oversee excavation, base preparation, compaction, and installation Ensure work meets company standards and project specifications Track crew hours, materials, and job progress Communicate updates, questions, and change-order needs to management Maintain clean, organized, and safe jobsites Inspect completed work before leaving each project Help train and develop crew members Communicate professionally with customers when necessary Participate in snow operations during the winter season
Qualifications:
At least three years of landscape construction, hardscape, excavation, or similar experience Previous crew-leadership or foreman experience preferred Strong knowledge of grading, drainage, base preparation, and compaction Ability to read plans, measure layouts, and calculate elevations Experience operating excavators and skid steers Ability to troubleshoot problems and make sound jobsite decisions Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record DOT medical card, hoisting license, and CDL are helpful but not required Reliable transportation and consistent attendance Ability to perform physical outdoor work in varying weather conditions Ability to safely lift at least 75 pounds The right candidate will be dependable, organized, quality-focused, and comfortable taking responsibility for the crew and project. We are looking for someone who notices problems before they become expensive and can keep projects moving without sacrificing workmanship.
Schedule:
Full-time, Monday through Friday, with overtime and occasional Saturdays during the busy season. Winter snow work is available and may be required depending on the position.
Compensation:
$30-$40 per hour, based on leadership ability, construction knowledge, equipment experience, licenses, and overall qualifications.
